10 Best Movies Starring Jim Carrey (before 2006)

Jim Carrey is one of my favorite actors. He made his name with his silly face and silly jokes, but he’s just as great as a serious actor. Some of his more recent movies have shown this. Born in 1962, and acting since the 1980s, Jim Carrey has made it into 39 movies or tv shows. From these I have chosen my 10 that I think are all really great movies that everyone should see πŸ™‚ Here they are in descending order by year. I’m sure there will be more fun movies in the future, but as of 2006 these are my favs!!!

The Greatest Jim Carrey Movie

1. Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004also starring… Emily Browning, Kara Hoffman, Liam Aiken

From a book I have never read, this is the story of 3 children who lost their parents from a family member To a family member. All the while they are trying to avoid a distant relative, Count Olavi, who only wants them for his inheritance. Each is a relative stranger than the next and a whole lot of unfortunate things happen along the way. Even though this movie was “alien”, I found it interesting. This is Jim Carrey’s best movie because of the fantasy locations and things that happen to him and his children. His character in this movie is very different from Jim Carrey, and even a little boring at times, but he did what he could and the movie was fun to watch with him in one of the roles of the stars. Pay attention because he says a lot of crazy!

My Fav Quotes…

Count Olavi: What I ask is that you do every little thing in my head, while I enjoy the enormous fortune left by your parents.

Count Olafs: I must say, you are a sad bunch. Why so gloomy?

Klaus Baudelaire: Our parents just died.

Count Olavi: Ah yes. how very tragic. Stay! Stay! Give me that line again while it’s fresh in my head.

Klaus Baudelaire: Our … parents are dead?

Count Olavi: [You are not doing well] Yes. It is very horrible.

Sunny: [talking to the child] What a schmuck!

The Twisted Jim Carrey Movie

2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004also starring… Kate Winslet, Elijah Wood, Kirsten Dunst.

In this movie, Jim Carrey plays a man who meets Kate Winslet on the train. They begin to fall in love but soon Jim realizes that he has been in love once before. Traps in shaving come to mind. Kate has removed Jim from his mind and when we watch the movie Jim has Kate removed from him. They seem to have fought a long time ago, and they wanted to get out of their heads completely. Jim starts to fight this beach and we go back and forth through past and preset! Having a memory is better than not knowing. Jim is great in this movie and like the sci-fi aspect of it overall. The movie was “twisted” because you can’t really know what’s going on until you watch it. Will Jim be able to hold on to the memories of his former girlfriend? You will have to see for yourself!

My Fav Quotes…

Joel: Is there a risk of brain damage?

Howard: Well, technically speaking, the operation is brain damage, but it’s a match for a night of heavy drinking. They do not deceive you.

Clementine: You’re not a culm or anything, are you?

Joel: I am not a louse. Do you remember who spoke to me?

Clementine: It’s the oldest trick in the stalker book.

Joel: Really? Is it a book stalker? Great, I gotta read one.

The Most Religious Jim Carrey Movie

3. Bruce Almighty (2003 also stars… Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Aniston, Philip Baker Hall

This movie is absolutely hilarious. Here’s Jim, the guy who complains so much that God gets a little angry. God basically says, “Well, you think you can do better, well you go here” and Jim is given absolute power as God. All happiness and ease is not due to this virtue. He should start answering prayers now, by the 1000s! He uses his powers for some good (giving people what they want) and some bad (sabotaging the guy who stole his anchor spot). He has loads of fun until he realizes that he can’t make his girlfriend love him even with all the power in the world. This movie is so funny because of the things Bruce does for once. Think about what you would do if you could do it! Maybe a new sports car? Watch this movie if you want to have some laughs πŸ˜€ It also got a great religious message that God is omnipotent, but that doesn’t mean his job is easy!

My Fav Quote…

Bruce, after discovering Evangon, got the anchor spotted on him:

Bruce: Bruce Nolan was killed here in the legendary Mist Maiden of Niagara Falls, New York. First, let me just add congratulations to Evan Backstabber – excuse me, Baxter, instead. It is good to see what someone with genuine talent can do when they are given great opportunities for me. Anyway, I’m here at Katherine Hepburn mom. Tell me, why do you throw the blue jewel of the heart of the ocean over the cursed Titanic? Do you feel bad about letting Leo DiCaprio drown at all while you’re safe in a big swimming pool? Could you have taken turns, or are you too afraid to last big fat butt off?

Bruce: How can anyone love you without free will?

God: [scornfully] Hail to the world, my son.

Kid-Friendly Jim Carrey Movie

4. How Christina Baranski, Molly Shannon.

This, of course, is to be reformed from the book of Dr. Suess, where he plays Jim Grinch, and he plays fantastically. Here Jim green is an ugly guy who grew up and now hates Christmas and families and everything good. -spirited Will he get the Christmas spirit? You probably already know but I won’t tell! Wearing an ugly green dress and hours of make-up, Jim turns into the perfect kid friendly villain and makes for a really moving and fun movie πŸ™‚

My Fav Quotes…

Grinch: Sing this Christmas. He is happy and triumphant

Cindy Lou Who: Santa, don’t forget the Grinch. I know he is cheap and shaggy and smelly, and his cold hands and the sound of hands, but hey. ,

Grinch: SWEET… Do you think he’s sweet?

[Cindy runs upstairs]

The Grinch: Nice kid, bad judge of character.

The Greatest Dramatic Jim Carrey Movie

5. Truman Monsters (1998 also stars… Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich, Natascha McElhone

The Truman Show is a fantastic movie in which Jim plays a man who seems to have an ideal happy life, but still wants to go out and experience the world. He doesn’t know what he is in real life, but the star of a TV show centered around him and filled with actors. Suddenly he begins to see little things here and there, and realizes that something is not right. Will he find the truth? Look at that! Despite the humor thrown into the film, overall it is a drama and the story is really enjoyable.

My Fav Quotes…

Truman Burbank: It was his father. I swear! He is clothed like a wretched man. And you know what else it was? A business man and woman with a dog came out of nowhere and put him on the bus.

Truman’s Mother: Well! It’s time they cleaned up the trash in the city center before we become like other regions.

Truman Burbank: Somebody help me, I’m spontaneous!

The Greatest Jim Carrey Movie

6. Liar Liar (1997 also starring… Maura Tierney, Justin Cooper, Jennifer Tilly

This is a classic movie and I have seen it many times. Here Jim plays a lawyer who is also a divorced father. He uses lies to gain reasons, and he also uses lies, so he never seems to be there for his son. Once the son had it with a lie and wish in birthday cake that his father will not be able to. lie only for one day. Jim knows something is wrong when he starts saying things he doesn’t really want to say… but it’s out of his control. Can he lie and take a big chance? Or will he learn his lesson? This movie makes me laugh every time b/c it gets to the heart of every man who tells little white lies. For example, you’re not going to tell someone to hurt their feelings like if they don’t like their hair, but in this movie Jim is forced to say this and it’s hilarious to see the reactions of those around him.

My Fav Quotes..

Fletcher: The car is scratched!

Motorpool Guy: Where?

Fletcher: [pointing with hands] That’s right!

Motorpool Guy: OH… That was already.

Fletcher: You – -LIAR! You know what I’m going to do about this?

Motorpool Guy: What?

Fletcher: Nothing! Because if she claims a small court, I will take it in court, it will only drain 8 hours from my life and you probably won ‘t show up and even if I got the judgment you’d just stiff me anyway; so what I’m going to do is p*ss and moan like a sick bastard, and then lean over and take that tailpipe!

Motorpool Guy: [tossing the keys to Fletcher] You’ve been here before, haven’t ya?

Cop: do you know why I pulled you over?

Fletcher: Depends on how long they’ve been following me!

Cop: Why do we only accept from the top?

Fletcher: Here goes: I see. I followed too. stop sign posted. I’m close to the Chevy. I want something more. I could not yield at the crosswalk. I changed the lanes to the section. I changed lanes without signaling while running a red light and *fast*!

Cop: Is that all?

Fletcher: No… I have parking tickets. [sighs]

Fletcher: … be gentle.

[Flecher on the phone with his mother]

Fletcher: [listens for a moment] Because I don’t want to talk to you!

[dies, heard]

Fletcher: Because you keep talking about bowel movements, dad; size, color, frequency, I “CALL YA LATER”

Flecher: Your honor, would it please the court to give me a brief bathroom break?

Judge: Can’t wait?

Fletcher: Yes, it can. But I heard that if you hold it you could injure the prostate, making it harder. erection or even excited!

Judge: Is it true?

Fletcher: so it must be!

Judge: I am better off in case I break myself quickly.

The Crippled Jim Carrey Movie

7. Dumb & Dumber (1994 also starring… Jeff Daniels, Lauren Holly, Mike Starr

This movie is so outrageous that it’s funny and classic. Jim stars in the role of Jeff Daniels as two very dumb people who find a suitcase and decide to return it to its beautiful owner. Neither of them realizes how much trouble they get themselves into and encounter many funny characters in road trip to find the girl. You will laugh at this movie not because you thought of many jokes, but because there are silly jokes! Movies like this give your brain a break and still entertain πŸ™‚

My Fav Quotes…

Lloyd: Rocky-mountains I was expecting this to be a little more rocky. i>

Harry: I thought the same.

Lloyd: That John Denver is full of man.

Harry: I can’t believe we’ve been going around all day, and there’s no work in this town. There is nothing, nada, zip!

Lloyd: Yeah! Unless you have to work forty hours a week

The Funniest Jim Carrey Movie

8. Cameron Diaz, Richard Jeni, Peter Greene

The person was drawn as a joke b/c it was somewhat animated. Jim becomes a bored banker who longs for some movement in his life. He finds this excitement after he finds a mask that transforms him into a very animated and popular guy! He uses this new funny power to impress the ladies as well as solve some crimes. However problems arise as the Persona takes over his personality and causes him to get into some trouble of his own! Jim goes beyond the usual personality traits to make this film where Big Band music is one of the themes. He dances, solves crimes, and makes all kinds of jokes and voices. Don’t forget about that cute little dog Milo!

My Fav Quotes…

Mask: Bring me closer, Ed, it’s getting dark. Tell Auntie Em to send out Old Yeller

[cough cough]

Mask: tell Tiny Tim I’m not going in this Christmas, tell Scarlett I don’t care,

[he dies, the audience appears and applauds as the gifted person is handed over]

Mask: Thank you for loving me, you really love me!

Cop: A bazooka?

Mask: I have permission for that

The Dumbest Jim Carrey Movie

9. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994 also starring… Courteney Cox, Sean Young, Tone Loc.

This movie has a serious plot but comedy overall. Jim is a Pet Detective who learns that the Miami Dolphins are missing there and there are three dolphins. Solve the mystery like any other detective can! This is one of Jim Carrey’s first big hits and it made many people laugh over his silly antics. It was so good, even attached! Jim is the crazy crazy guy in this movie, nothing like the more serious characters he plays these days. This is a classic movie-Jim and everyone should see it!

My Fav Quotes…

Ace Ventura: Looking for Ray Finkle.

Ace Ventura: …and a clean pair of shorts.

[coming out of the room of men all wet with torn clothes]

Ace Ventura: Don’t go in there! Phew!

Best Jim Carrey Movie from the 80s

10. Easy Earth Girls (1988also starring… Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, Damon Wayans

If you haven’t seen this movie than what are you waiting for! Jim, Jeff and Damon play three aliens who crash land in Geena’s tank! As they wait to repair their ship, Geena begins to teach them about the fitness of living in CA. He gives them a makeover and he and his friends have loads of fun with these guys who are totally the simple ways of the earth people! It’s an 80s movie with a strong 80s vibe and it’s just funny. There is no serious plot behind it, just like any other 80s movie with the valley girls and Jim and the other aliens are trying to mix. It’s best when they learn a lot about Earth from TV and TV commercials!

My Fav Quotes…

Mac: Are we going to limp and work?

Valerie: As if that wasn’t bad enough, now I’ve been kidnapped by strangers.

Candy: Just because you’re foreigners doesn’t mean these days can’t be.
