10 Helpful Tips to Make Your Cover Letter Stand Out

Your cover letter is the first impression you give employers. Sometimes without a well-written cover letter, your microwave doesn’t get the attention it deserves. That lets face it; resumes get cheered every time. Therefore, you should come up with a plan on how to sell yourself to this potential employer. Set yourself apart by telling them how you will help them achieve their goals and what they will gain if they hire you. If your cover letter doesn’t grab the reader’s attention in the first paragraph then the chances of being invited to an interview are drastically reduced. I mean, he can have a hundred or more repetitions to look at and he’s probably running out of time to make his choice. Here are some tips that can help you produce high-quality letters.

Tip #1 high-quality white paper; It is thicker than cardboard or printer paper. Avoid elaborate or colored stations. To send a clean copy of the final printout, not a photocopy. Make sure there are no smudges on the paper or grease marks. Keep your extra copies in a large envelope or hand folder.

Tip #2 Keep your message short and to the point. Your letter should not exceed one page. Use short paragraphs and bullet points whenever possible. Avoid too many words as fewer words will get your point across just as well. Construct your cover letter in the same style as your resume.

Tip #3 Highlight your most recent accomplishments or credentials you’re proud of. This gives employers a job code. I mean impress your skills and energy.

Tip #4 If you are sending your email, make sure that your document is properly opened and that your computer system is virus free.

Tip #5 Your return email will appear in the top right corner, without your name. As a general rule, you should avoid abbreviations in cover letter addresses, even though abbreviations are common in all business correspondence. The two date lines appear under your return address on the right side of the page. Write the date; do not use the abbreviated form. Example: February 11, 2008.

Tip #6 Always ask for a proper name and address before sending a cover letter. Two lines in the left margin of the letter below the data, the full name of the addressee preceded by Mr. or Ms. (do not use Miss or Mrs., even if you happen to know the addressee’s marital status). In the second line count the formal title of each; in the subsequent line the name of the company should be listed. This is followed by the company’s speech, which usually takes two lines. The salutation should appear two lines below the company address. We must begin with “Dear Lord.” or “Dear Ms. Never use “To whom it pertains”

Tip #10: Most important: PROOFREAD! PROOF! PROOF! Use spelling and, if available, check another one. Nothing better than two eyes. Be sure to send the misspelled words to the bottom of the resume and maybe get ignored!
