10 Sad Movies Worth Crying Over

For me, what makes a movie really sad is what makes me pull out each time to watch it and leaves me with a sense of loss at the end. There are many films out there that make me an emotional mess at various points throughout, but by the end they create a positive and uplifting feeling that leaves you feeling content. The following 10 movies are truly the saddest movies and are my top 10 of this genre. Every movie leaves me feeling the loss of those on the screen and I can’t watch any of them without tearing up.

West Side Story Story

I saw this movie for the first time when I was 10 years old and have been a fan to this day. . The classical music Romeo and Juliet is an infectious as well as moving story. Natalie Wood as Mary moving dear. His character is the most tenacious in the entire movie which climaxes in the last scene of the movie. When there is hope that Maria and Tony will be together, and they run to each other for a hug, it is shot. His heart breaking song Somewhere while dying in his arms will tear your heart apart. After he’s gone, and that voice attacks everyone present, you can feel the pain. I cry throughout the last scene of the West Side recipe every time I watch it.

Hello Secret Ryan

This is my favorite time of war. The story of the Ryan family is touching and sad when you find out that Mrs. Ryan has already lost 3 of her children to the war. Watching Tom Hanks and his friends fight and fight their way through captured France to find Secret Ryan and return home. He was moved and completely turned away, as you see through another, that he gave his life to save. Sailor Hank succeeds in finding Private Ryan and the next challenge is to get him out of the country alive. The saddest part of the movie is when the men try to defend the town they find Ryan in, under the watchful eye of the Germans, and all but three men die. The tearful part comes when Hanks tells Ryan with his last words “Deserve it.” The movie closes with Ryan visiting Hank’s grave in the present day. The image always brings tears to the eyes.

Supplication

I was honestly surprised at how quickly I was taken by this movie. After watching the previews of this movie, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to see it. but I watched, and I am very glad that I did. The tragic love story engages you from the beginning and pulls you on a roller coaster to the morals of life. Keira Knightly plays the leading lady Cecilia and James McAvoy plays her love interest, Robbie. Following accusations of kidnapping and being forced to join the military in WWII, instead of serving prison time, I was so thrilled to see the two lovers end up back in London. Then you learn that it is not true. Cecilia and Robbie never reunite and never share their love. Both die in the war. I was left empty and confused.

Untamed Heart

Christian Slater is amazing in this movie. A child with a broken heart wears the persona of Adah perfectly. You develop a soft spot in your heart for the calm and sweet spot busboy who falls in love with Caroline (Marisa Tomei). He introduces her to the wonders of the world, and teaches her about pure love. When he dies on the way back from the hockey game, he has a smile on his face and it breaks my heart. I can’t watch this film without crying.

Titanic

The theme of this movie itself is sad and depressing. More than a thousand people died when the RMS Titanic sank in 1912. James Cameron was one of the greatest tragedies of all time. a tragic tale of love lost overnight. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet gave this movie the credibility and soul it needed to succeed. You believe his passion; you believe his business; Finally, you believe the heartbreak that Jack (DiCaprio) is feeling is pouring out. I cry like a baby every time I watch this movie.

Braveheart

The film begins sadly as William Wallace loses his father and brother and is taken away from his home. to live with his uncle. Returning home, the heartbroken Wallace (played by Mel Gibson) falls in love with his childhood sweetheart, only to have her killed by English soldiers. Then he makes a mission to drive the English from their beloved Scotland, and incites the nations throughout Scotland to follow Wallachia and fight for freedom. After the treachery of those who had been entrusted to Scotland, he was captured and destined to be put to death. watch this movie I can’t help but tear up in several parts of the movie, but especially at the end. when he sees his love walking through the crowd of onlookers and shouts “Liberty” before taking off. William Whaley’s real life was an inspiration to everyone in Scotland and the film did an amazing job in portraying it.

Up close and personal

Michelle Pfeiffer played a role loosely based on a true story about a TV news anchor and her love interest Robert Redford. The film follows Pfeiffer’s character, Tally Atwater, in her struggle to become a respectable news anchor. He likes Redford’s character, which is slowly descending the career ladder. He takes her under his wing and teaches her everything she’s learned over the years in business and falling in love. The final scenes are what turn this movie from an inspirational story into a tragedy. When Pfeiffer sees Redford’s boots in the following movie, and you see the recognition on his face when he realizes he’s dead, it breaks my heart. I cry as he begins to cry.

Cold Mountain

This film highlights the struggles of people throughout Civil War, and not only on the battlefield. It shows the bloody battles and the huge destruction in the battles, but it also shows how those who remained at home, while they are alive without their husbands, brothers, fathers and children around. Jude Law plays the main character, Inhuman, who spends the entire film trying to make it through the war. side, people meet on the road to make it back to the woman he loves Nicole Kidman (The Journal). Kidman, on the other hand, returns home to learn how to take care of the house and the farm and eventually makes friends with Renee Zellwegger who teaches her all the skills she lacks. Through all the pain and suffering, Inmanus makes a home, consummates Ada’s marriage, and believes he can make a home for himself and his wife. Tragically, the deserter is caught and usually chases and kills her, dying in the arms of Hades. The saddest part of this story is that he worked so hard to get back to her, he risked everything for her, and they will still never be together. Even though Ada conceives a child from Inman, I am always left with a heavy feeling of loss after watching this movie.

Steel Magnolias

Iron Magnolias is that classic people think of when they mention sad movies. Several stories follow southern women and how their lives focus on change over time, especially in the character of Julia Roberts Shelby and her mother. play by Sally Field. Many of the moments throughout the film, the most uplifting and cry-worthy, come when Shelby dies from complications with Type 1 Diabetes and her mother’s reaction to it. When Sally Field stands at the graveside crying and wailing and expressing an overwhelming sense of loss over her daughter, I sob. If you need a good shout, this is definitely the movie to watch.

Marley and Me

This is by far the saddest and most disturbing movie I have ever seen. Maybe it’s just that I’m an animal lover, but at the end of the movie they have to be put with Marley. I sobbed to sleep. My two daughters, ages 9 and 5, were both crying too. You develop a relationship with Marley, since for years he could do nothing but trouble his puppies, until his old age, where he had difficulty moving, but still retained his foam. This movie touches a special spot in anyone’s heart that has always been a favorite that can be a little difficult but is so lovely all the same.

Each movie leaves you feeling lost and sad, yet each one leaves you with a message and makes you feel. I will cover each and every movie.
