10 Things to Do on Jeju Island

Jeju Island is the perfect private vacation. It is the smallest, most scenic island among the southern islands of the Korean peninsula that offers hiking trails, volcanic caves, museums, beaches, shopping and many other tourist attractions. Jeju Island offers something for everyone.

1. Rent a bike or scooter
It’s a beautiful island, and not all good stuff is in every map or every book you have, so you have to explore. Many scooter rental locations require an international driver’s license. Rumor has it that you can rent a scooter without permission from Mr. Lee. Otherwise, the bike is also a great way to leave the beaten track, and it’s dirt cheap at 21,000 for 3 days.

2. Hike Mount Hallasan
It is easy to spend a day or two hiking in Hallasan. Decide which tracks or trails you want to do before you get there, because they can get rough. You should start early in the day to avoid getting caught in the woods at night, and bring plenty of water and a camera. You need both. In case of any question on the trail, there are phone numbers posted on the trails that you can call in case of emergency. rescue

3.-4. Visit Wash Tubes / Fences Try to Pity
These two plots are right next door to each other in the city, and are worth about two or three hours of entertainment. First to the lava tubes, pay 2,000 won to explore the immense lava caves, bask in the hot temperatures, admire the rock formations and take pictures. Then mosey on down the road to the fence (you’ll see signs for it). You get a discount for walking. They hand you a card and tell you not to look back, so you have a blast running to the finish line with your friends or working as a team. An added bonus is getting people to watch all the other visitors to often try different methods to solve their mistakes: strict orienteering, shouting, World Cup Soccer Stadium, this museum is a collection of various artifacts, artifacts, costumes and *ahem* functional functions of the whole world and history, united by the common theme of sex. I will make you think, laugh as I do, make you excited. It is certainly worth a visit.

6-8 Mystery Road, Land of Love, and Jeju Art Museum
Since these attractions are 100m apart on the same road, it will take you about three to five hours to ride a taxi to and from these places. Loveland amusement parks, with an admission fee of 7,000 won, is a waste of time. The Secret Way is arguably a tourist trap; There is a small part of the mountain road where things seem to be pushed. It’s worth a laugh. The most interesting, in my opinion, is Jeju art museum. Free admission, but I wanted to pay once I saw the exhibits. The focus seems to be on modern art with traditional artists being trained at times. I was very happy to spend my morning in this museum.

9. Beaches
From the simple beach of Iho to the thepeutic black sand beach of Samyang, a trip to Jeju is not complete without a trip to the beach. Buy a beer, crack a pipe, or just sleep on the sand. It is on the beach. Bring a tent, you can have it (free!)

10. Foreign Food
Got some Mexican cravings? A couple of blocks from City Hall is “El Paso” to find it, just ask the friendly locals “El Paso oh-desey-yo”? or “where is El Paso?”. The cheese platter is not the best, but the drinks are good. Bagdad Cafe in Jeju City remains quite authentic with a Nepalese chef and English speaking staff.

Those are my recommendations for fun on an island paradise. Farewell!
