All or most of us are trying to live “greener” and recycle to save our landfills and the planet we live on. Here are 10 ways you can help “recycle paper”.
1. Reuse printer paper that has only one side with print on it. Use them on scratch paper to make notes or let your youngsters use them to color or write. Cut it into diatessaron and staple together, so that the size is marked and more compact.
2. Make your own cave litter using old newspapers. It’s just chopped, soaked in dish detergent and baking soda, and allowed to air dry. Get details at www.planetgreen.com. Newspapers are a natural odor absorber which is what bugs need.
3. Reuse old wrapping paper for delivery. This will serve 2 purposes, recycle paper and protect books. Just use an old book cover as a template. Paper envelopes in all kinds of cool patterns and colors, so you can look for paper on the other side or for your Christmas. and I like to save the pieces for this.
4. You’ve probably done this before, but if you haven’t, use old newspapers to code the files you need to mail. Instead of buying packing materials like bubble wrap at the store, you can reuse your old sheets for free. Also, when you buy aids or other things that include a bunch of peanuts, you can reuse them by tossing them in the attic to supplement your attic escape.
5. You can create art using old newspapers! Spend time with your kids making Paper Mache projects using only scraps of newspaper and paint. Visit www.howstuffworks.com for free projects.
6. Chop up old leaves and use stuff for pillows and pretty animals. It works just like an acquired fill.
7. Connect your child’s artwork pages and use it as a gift of clothing. Use only those that you do not want to keep. This is a creative way to display your children’s art. They also use the comic section of the paper as gift wrap. This is just a gift fun to cover.
8. Submit old newspapers to contribute animals sites. There is a continuous need in the journal. They use them as animal cages for sanitary reasons.
9. Use old newspapers in your garden beds to deter weeds. This will keep you from buying killers, and reduce the use of harsh chemicals in your soil. Layer 4 to 6 consecutive sheets until you have the desired garden. Next, soak the hose and add a layer of mulch.
10. When in camp and using a sleeping bag, place a layer of newspaper underneath. It will keep the sleeping bag dry and free from dirt. Even for the yeast layer.
