Counting down these weeks until the last day of school seems to take forever, and yet the 12 weeks of summer seem to fly by. Helping kids create a 12-week summer scrapbook gives them a fun activity to document all the fun things they did over the summer. It is also training them to write, categorize, organize, organize and also use their creativity. At the end of the summer, they will have a memory and a sense of effect. Not to mention the beginning of the chapter in that “what did I do summer” will probably try to find out when school starts again.
Ideas for 12 weeks of summer scrapbook base:
Recycled 3 ring binder from school.
Class fit to create a silent scrapbook base with cardboard covers.
Use cheap slides in photo album.
Ideas included in the 12 weeks of summer scrapbook:
Often when kids are asked what they did this summer, they say “nothing.” It’s like when we ask what they did at school today and they say “nothing.” Activities that can be included in the 12 weeks of summer scrapbook are great, like visiting a theme park, going to the beach or going camping. The little things they do every day are important like building a tower using every last block, watching a movie or reading a book. Here is a list that can help kids get started with things to consider including in their summer scrapbook.

Decorating a summer scrapbook 12 weeks:
It is aimed at children and that is not the case. We find ticket stubs in the laundry, pamphlets on covers and papers, or written all over the place. A summer scrapbook can be encouraged to put all of these things to good use in one organized place. Decorating ideas includes:
Booklets
The Letter of the Book
Book number
Testimonies
pamphlets
Passwords
Programs
Computer format
Photographs
Possible “pockets” for 12 weeks of summer scrapbook:
Kids love pockets. The pocket can be cut out of paper, fabric or foam craft sheets.
Now you can encourage them to practice writing. It’s amazing how something as small and fun as making a pocket can inspire kids to write something to have something put into it. Ask them to write “reviews”” of anything this summer from movies to books, water parks to souvenirs or pancakes. also write poems or short stories in the summer scrapbook.
The kids fold up their writing and stuff it inside their pockets as another safe. Kids will enjoy making a 12-week summer scrapbook and when they ask them, “What did you do this summer?” Fridays have a varied and organized response.
