16th Annual Sweet Corn Festival in Olathe, Colorado

Called “the biggest, best, smallest festival in the US,” the Sweet Corn Festival held in Olathe, Colorado is known for attracting some of the biggest names in country music. Once a year, this small town in western Colorado explodes with music, shopping, entertainment, food and all the sweet corn you can eat. This year will be no different as LeAnn Rimes will be set to take the stage at this year’s concert.

The small town Olathe, Colorado is located on highway 50 between the major cities of Adjunct and Durango. The Sweet Corn Festival has been held since 1992 and was born out of pride in the area’s largest agricultural crop. Olathe Sweet Corn is a prized treat that is eagerly awaited by the residents of Western Colorado every year and the corn celebrates that abundance with music , food and fun.

More than 200 vendors are scheduled to attend this year’s festivals and offer their own food and drinks, which are anticipated every year. . The sweet corn stand is traditionally located in remote areas of the festival. Corn is offered either boiled or roasted. Butter, salt and other spices are provided. Festival-goers are encouraged to eat as much corn as they can take and there is no additional burden for this festival.

The Sweet Corn Festival is a two-day event that this year will begin on Friday, August 3, 2007. The first event will be a car show at 3:00 p.m., followed by a fireworks display on the street dance floor in the center. . A live party will be held on the streets that will begin at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, August 4, 2007, they rose early to begin their day with the “Field of Dreams” 5K run/walk at 7:00 a.m. A complimentary breakfast will be served at the Bank Colorado parking lot starting at 7:30 a.m. The Olathe Sweet Corn Parade will be down the street at 9:00 p.m. and it will go through the middle area. The festival gates also open before 9:00 p.m. are open and the fun begins with the Western Slope Karaoke Championship.

Live music can be heard all day starting at 10:00 a. m. with the Watch Brothers Band. At 11:30 p.m. The Holy Spirit River Band takes the stage followed by the Kenny Ray Band, The Money and the Anders Brothers Band at 7:30 p.m. LeAnn Rimes takes the music stage last at 9:00 p.m. immediately followed by a spectacular fireworks display officially ends the festival.

Tickets for the 16th annual Olathe Sweet Corn Festival will be $19 for adults, $14 for Senior Citizens and $3 for children 12 and under. and below A complimentary shuttle will be available for those wishing to block the site. The radius runs between the festival grounds of Olathe Community Park and the downtown area.
