A few years before the 2009 NFL season begins to consider about five:
The Giants are playing three consecutive road games after home and the season opener against Washington. Dallas has never won easily and the fact that the Giants-Cowboys matchup on Sunday night is going to fire up the Dallas faithful even more than normal. It will be a big blue-collar job in Tampa, especially when the Giants travel to Kansas City next week.
Big Blue gets three games at home in December 2008, including two straight in New York against Dallas and Philadelphia. After two games against the Cowboys and Eagles, though, the Giants will travel to Washington on Monday night for a showdown against the Redskins. Three division games in a row in December? The NFC East can best be defined by Christmas.
I’m really looking forward to the Thursday night game in Denver at the end of November. Although the Broncos will be missing an All-Pro QB (maybe), the night game will be in the Mile High Air where it will most likely be below freezing. the conditions are not easy. One good thing, though, is that the Giants will have the Cowboys with a half to prepare against the Broncos.
The Giants travel to Kansas City but host San Diego. New York plays in Minnesota, but Arizona has to play on the prairies. The Giants are planning a road trip to New Orleans for a home game against the Panthers at the end of December. You will give it, or I will take it away.
The Giants will play a week before nine days. Personally, I like to have bye weeks later in the season. London will need the rest of November before pushing for the playoffs. If the Giants can start the season 6-3, they should have a similar chance of repeating as the NFC East champions.
Don’t expect New York to start the regular season with a 6-0 record in 2009. This will be just the time to survive the long road trip, having a good bye week and taking advantage of the three December home games his own Now, I see no reason why the Giants can’t win at least ten games in 2009.
