5 Alphabet Art Ideas for Preschool

When you allow children to create the letters of the alphabet using different art tools, materials and techniques, they are more likely to recognize and learn how the letters are formed. This article has five alphabet art ideas for your preschoolers. Children will participate in these crafts , where they will learn and be creative as well.

Do college letters

Draw box-type letters on a piece of cardboard or poster board. Invite the children to spread the glue on the letter and stick any of the following materials to make the letter raised textures that they can feel. Think about using sand, bullets, crushed eggshells, pieces of paper, dried beans or pasta, balls, seeds and too spices (so they smell the letters). These are just a few ideas, and you can certainly think of others. Sometimes it is best to compose letters and make sound material in a collage. For example, when making the letter B, use beads or the letter S, use sand.

Create Characters

Give each child block letters and colored notes. Invite them to “pretty” literally by guiding them in facial features, hair and designs. You can also give the children fabric scraps to dress up as letters of the alphabet. Challenge the children to guess the letters of their name, such as “Billy B” or “Tara” T.

Singular finger

Do children know that they have unique fingerprints and that no one else has the same footprints? Although they are young, that information is memorable. For this alphabet craft, children shape their thumbprints to create letters. Take a foam storage container and place a few sheets of paper towels inside. The sheets act as a stamp pad when tempera paint is poured on top. Each child painted their thumb in the tray and stamped in the shape of a letter. It is best if the teacher lightly draws a letter on the paper for the children to follow. Another variation is to fill in the block letters with a number of digits, maybe even different colors.

Negative pages

Tape the letter pattern of the alphabet onto the paper. You could have “letters of the week” or each letter representing the child’s initials. With a pencil eraser or botton swab, children make small dots all over the paper. This is like a form of punctuality. When the paper is dry, remove the pattern and the letter of the alphabet will stand out from the decorated place.

Alphabetary fused

Since this alphabet is a letter craft, a large letter is cut out of sandpaper. Children color heavily with crayons directly on the rough side of the sandpaper. Place the letter on a cookie sheet and bake in a 300-degree oven for 4-5 minutes or until the crayon melts. The letters of the alphabet emerge in vivid colors.

These five alphabet craft ideas will make learning letters fun for preschoolers. These craft ideas are perfect for preschool classes, home-based day care and parents. Make everyday a learning day with creative art activities.
