Double Eight Ball or Nine Ball
This is a very simple pool game for four people. Two teams are made up of two people each (or one pair and one person playing solo, if there are only three people). Shots are then made until all balls have been shot, with each shot adding one to the count. If no balls were made in the light, for example, and one ball made every shot without a miss, the final count would be four (one for the break, and one for each ball). One of the counts is scratched, with one shot at him – after the wound, the signal ball is thrown from the kitchen. After the first person bases all three balls, the story is repeated for the second person, and so on until everyone has had a turn at the table. The winner is the player who, after everyone has taken a turn at the table, has the last count. In a tie, everyone is considered tied for the round. The scores for that round are forgotten, and a new round is played until the round ends with a single winner.
Three ball is a great group game. For one, any number of players can join. Several times we started the game with only three people and, before long, they ended up with over ten simply attracting people who happened to be walking. Playing with many people is also fast with it, and everyone can get to the table at the right time. It is also a very budget-friendly game, as five people can have a turn in a round with just one button rack.
