I found Boye’s book “I Taught Myself Knitting” at my local craft section of Wal-mart for under $10 and decided to give it a try. It is not only a book, but it includes the whole set of materials, although the dye is excluded. How are you wrong? Or so I thought. Such a promising work is lacking in a few places. lazy construction
Although Boye is a leading brand in crochet and quilting supplies, the quality standards of this book don’t seem to translate. The kit comes with an instruction booklet, a pair of knitting needles, fixing the needle, a measuring tape, and a knitting needle; He made it, and covered the needle. Badly illustrated
And as if this were not enough, they describe a major problem with the book. When you learn art, words are not enough; I really need a video picture to really understand. I already know how to crochet, which is similar to knitting, but for the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to throw in a few stitches by looking at text and illustrations prepared in this book. I could only look up schematics online to be able to do this basic function. In most of the patterns for crochet and knitting, the illustrator highlights the parts of the yarn that are used and which part to move over the fingers and bring up the stitch. But this book does not do you this courtesy, and assumes prior knowledge of holding and working with connected needles so that you can follow them.
Discouraging
It’s not enough to know that you don’t have all the stuff you need to have any decent connection, but combined with the barely-comprehensive features it makes the experience void. If I had been less motivated to learn the trade that book would have deterred me from ever trying my hand at it again. So do yourself a favor and don’t buy this kit unless you just want the supplies, because the book will definitely teach you. you are connected without him.
