7 Self-Loathing Songs We Hate to Love

We’ve all been there; we grieve for ourselves, and at the same time we lean on one thing or another. When dealing with self-loathing, the least you should do is listen to music that makes you feel worse. However, sometimes we do that, which requires a moment to instill our feelings of self-compassion and humility. So if you feel like listening to your own music, then I have 7 songs that are worth listening too. .

“I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo.”

if you are really a traveler or if you want not ” fit in”, you will certainly tell this song. Heck, I still crank it up when I hear it on the radio, and I don’t even hate it (anymore).

“What else do I owe? We will all be sorry.”

Nirvana’s “All Apologies” – I’ll admit that almost ANYONE’s Nirvana song should curb their self-hatred, but All Apologies is a really good song about how marriage can drain the life out of you. I guess Kurt Cobain was not in marital bliss with Courtney Love when he wrote this song.

“I will hurt myself today if I still feel it.”

Nine Inch Keys “Hur” –Trent Reznor sings of letting others down, lying and wondering what he has become in this powerful song. Many of NIN’s songs are characterized by self-loathing or self-obsession, but they are the core of alternative rock.

“Look at the barrel 45, the ashes of another life are swimming.”

Shinedown “45” – It’s certainly self-loathing, but more than that, it’s about what’s possible when you keep your mind spread within. They are the words of a man who is so concerned about the changes of life that he becomes aware of death. There is always a better way out of depression than suicide, it is a permanent solution to temporary problems.

“I regret what I did; I did what my body told me.”

Weezer “Passion” – So this song is both a self-loathing song and a “sorry for coming to me but it’s really your fault” song. My singer can’t make it if he hates himself or the woman he cheated on. It’s a good song though, but I think it just sucks and messes up the guilt.

“I want to walk, but I run back to you, thats why I hate to love you.”

Joan Jett “I Hate To Love Me” – It’s definitely not as sad as her other songs loathing himself, but Joan Jett hates herself for loving someone. Some dog is deceptive, and you wonder why Johanna feels love? It’s ok Ms. Jett, we’ve all been there and felt like idiots for him.

“Every day I fight a war against the mirror, I can’t stand myself back.”

Pink “Don’t Get Me” – Pink was much more self-loathing than the present. You know this song is about to get sick when the lyrics say, “It’s bad when you’re bothering yourself, so annoying.” I love this song, and I think it’s very relatable. You are a greater man if you can be angry with yourself, but don’t dwell too long in self-loathing.
