10 Indoor Summer Activities for Kids
When the kids are out of school in the summer, or a little in school, it is difficult to do on those days when it is too hot to send them outside for many times. There is plenty to do inside that doesn’t involve sitting your kids in front of the TV wasting their day. With just things you have lying around the house, you can turn a boring day inside into a day that sparks their imaginations.
Read a book. Instead of parking your kids in front of the TV to watch a movie, find a book with a similar story or even a film based on a book. Look for books about your favorite cartoon characters. They have books for every reading level, and if even small kids can read on their own, it’s a great opportunity to sit down and it’s time to stay.
Make indoor clubs. Give the kids some free living room a> . Give them cushions, blankets, chairs, and anything else you can find. Help them get started and then they’ll pick themselves up and build their own fortifications.
You have an indoor picnic. It’s always a blast to go to the park and have lunch. When it’s too hot outside to even go outside, who says you can’t still have a picnic? Take an old map or blanket, and spread it on the ground, make the yard worthy of a meal, lie down and enjoy.
Make Homemade Play-Doh. It’s super easy to make Play-Doh. It gives you control over how much you can make and what colors you have. You can make basic food using an endless array of colors. Just spread the cloth vinyl on the floor and give them dull knives, rolling pins and other tools.
TP bowling. Keep your toilet paper rolling and socks rolling. Sit down in the hall just as the ball pins and your balled socks roll in them.
be crafty. Kids love to make crafts. Get out the same blanket you used to play with, sit down with paper, crayons, markers, safe scissors and glue, and let their minds run wild.
Go on a treasure hunt. Choose a spot in the house and hide the treasure. Place clues around the house and have your kids solve puzzles to get to the treasure.
Play with some boxes. As any kid knows, a box is always more fun with a toy. Save some big cardboard boxes and put them in the living room. Give them markers and crayons, and they’ll decorate new houses, boats, or whatever else their brains can think of.
