Various shades of tan and white are ideal when decorating a bedroom with comfort and style in mind. It can look as welcoming as a soft fluffy cloud, and when the bed is outfitted with a feather filled covering and comfy sheets and blankets, it will feel as wonderful as it looks. I am in the final stages of decorating a tan and white bedroom for a client, and it looks amazing thus far. She will add a few personal touches of her own.
White is the absence of all color, but contrary to popular belief, it is a hue. Tan and white are neutral, but they look fantastic together. They can be combined with small splashes of soft, bold or vibrant colors, or they can be implemented alone. In any case, the bedroom can look fantastic. As the photo shows, tan and white are excellent color choices when decorating a bedroom. Personally I prefer more color, but the two hues can be used exclusively and successfully when decorating a bedroom.
Opt for White Bedding with Tan Throw Pillows
The bed is a main part of a bedroom decorating scheme. After all, it takes up a considerable amount of square footage, and when decorating in tan and white, the bed should become the main focus. Opt for luxurious white bedding, and top it with a combination of lily and beige colored throw pillows of various sizes, shapes and textures. The bed will look lavish when decorating with throw pillows, even if everything was budget priced.
Consider Decorating with a Beautiful Hanging Fixture
I like to use innovative designs when decorating instead of going with predictable pieces of furniture, accessories and fixtures. When decorating my client’s bedroom in tan and white, with her consent I selected a gorgeous hanging light fixture that typically would be used in a dining room. It looked amazing, and when connected to a sliding dimmer switch, it gave the client the ability to control the level of artificial light in the bedroom. It provided mood lighting as well as plenty of illumination for reading, writing and more.
Decorating Lily Walls with Dimensional White Mirror Frames
In keeping with the ornate design of the light fixture, my client and I chose a wall mirror that was surrounded by a dimensional and highly detailed white composite frame. Although the wall and the frame were the same hue, it looked exceptional on the wall at the head of the bed. It reflected natural light from the sunny bedroom windows, and it embellished the wall beautifully.
Fill a Tan Woven Basket with White Feather Boas
In addition to white candlesticks, a tan area rug and a tan woven paper lampshade, I added a decorating accessory that was completely unique. My client had a beautiful basket that she wanted to use in the bedroom, and instead of leaving it empty or filling it with items that would add undesirable colors, I filled it with white feathered boas. The ultra soft boas added a nice touch to the decorating scheme, and they were the perfect addition since they looked like white fluffy clouds. The bed looks and feels like a cloud, and although the bedroom is not quite complete, it is becoming the room of my client’s dreams.
