I had been looking for a new hairstyle. A hairstyle that’s contemporary yet classic, professional yet feminine, well-kept yet flirty, easy-to-do yet looks-like-a-million-bucks. In other words, the hairstyle of every girl’s dream.
I had noticed a lot of woman wearing the “big hair” look. Not the 80’s big hair, but the new big hair where it’s only big on the top. I really liked that, but with my frizzy big-all-over hair, I had a lot of trouble trying to achieve that.
Then I saw this commercial selling “volumizing inserts” for your hair called Bumpits. So that ‘s the secret! You put a plastic “lifter” into your hair to get that look! Then you kind of smooth down the rest. OK, I’m sold!
Well, not completely sold because I’m always leery about ordering stuff from TV commercials. My husband loves the “As Seen on TV” aisle at drug stores, so I sent him on a mission to “get me some Bumpits.
He found them at Walgreen’s, which happened to be a better deal than the TV. If you order from TV or off the Bumpits website, you can get 2 large Bumpits, 1 Hollywood Bumpits, and 2 bang Bumpits for $19.99. The box Lubby got me had 1 large Bumpit, 1 medium Bumpit and 1 bang Bumpit for $9.99.
I was happy to see that they come in four different colors: black, brunette, dark blond, and Blondie. You really shouldn’t see the Bumpit through your hair, but if it peeks through a little it’s really not that noticeable. I’ve also found that the Bumpits are very durable. Plan on having them last for a long time.
The real test of the Bumpits is how well they work. First, are they easy to use? And second, how do the results look?
As far as ease of use goes, I give Bumpits a 10 out of 10. The directions are easy to follow. Even if you have no hairdressing skills at all you’ll be able to use these. You just section off your hair, tease it a little, stick the bottom of the Bumpit at the roots, and lay that section of hair back over the top of the Bumpit. (Just make sure the little teeth aren’t poking through.)
At that point you can just let your hair hang loosely or style it. I think the Bumpit looks great with a ponytail and/or an up-sweep. They’re both really easy to do. To finish smooth a little anti-frizz cream over your hair or use a little hairspray.
As far as how Bumpits look in your hair, I give them a 10 out of 10. Whether you wear your hair down or up, the Bumpits hairstyle is very smart looking style.
