‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin’s Daughter, Bindi, Launches New Television Show

Bindi Irwin, who is the daughter of the late “Crocodile Hunter”, Steve Irwin, is launching a new television show. She hopes the show will continue the education and conservation work her father was famous for.

I’m proud to be showing kids that conservation and helping wildlife is a stack of fun,” the 8-year-old Bindi was quoted as saying on Friday at the Australian launch of “Bindi: The Jungle Girl”, according to the Associated Press.

“It’s just the most amazing thing that we could ever do,” she said.

Steve Irwin was killed last fall by a stingray while filming his television show, very popular in both Australia and the United States. Producers of the show say they will feature Steve in scenes that were shot before the accident.

Steve Irwin’s widow, Terri, has said that her late husband would be very proud of his daughter’s television debut. Discovery Kids Channel in the United states and the Australian Broadcasting Corp will be the stations airing the show.

“I think he would have said, `Crikey mate, I couldn’t wait for Bindi to take over,'” according to Terri Irwin, from the Associated Press.

Bindi was already being taught to be Irwin’s successor of both his television show and his business. Irwin’s businesses include a family-run animal park at Beerwah in Queensland state.

“Bindi’s been filming with us since she first hatched,” Terri Irwin said. “It was a natural progression to be doing her own shows, and Steve was involved with the first seven episodes. He really enjoyed watching Bindi doing and showcasing the wildlife that he worked with for so many years. It gave him great pleasure”, according to Associated Press.

Bindi: The Jungle Girl” will premiere on June 9 on the Discovery Kids Channel. Bindi also plans on hosting, “My Daddy the Croc Hunter,”which is a one-hour special that will air on June 8 on the Animal Planet.
