Many brides who live in the Saint Louis area immediately think of wedding and reception venues that are downtown. Places like the Jewel Box, Windows on Washington, the Botanical Gardens, and many high end hotels. These places do boast elegance, but an elegant reception can be held just as easily, and sometimes less expensively, outside of St. Louis.
The following venues are located in West St. Louis County and Saint Charles County. They are up and coming venues that are just as beautiful as a downtown venue, without the hassle of traffic and with just as many beautiful places to get pictures taken as downtown. With a wide variety of choices, you can definitely find the perfect site for you-that might even be closer to home!
The Butterfly House: The Butterfly House is located in Faust Park in Chesterfield, Missouri. The Butterfly House itself is a small building and butterfly conservatory. It also boasts a large garden and plenty of space for an outdoor wedding. One great positive to this venue is that you can hold both your ceremony and reception in the same site. The ceremony is held under a beautiful wood shelter that is surrounded by gardens beautiful from late April to early October. The reception is held under a tent that can be cooled up to ten degrees. Guests can even go into the butterfly conservatory up until six o’clock. You have to choose one of their three required caterers, there is no smoking on the premises, and there is no indoor option if it rains. It’s a beautiful venue to check out and quite conveniently located.
The Kemp Auto Museum: Also located in Chesterfield, Missouri, Kemp has almost the opposite feel to the Butterfly House. Conveniently located off of Highway 40, it’s all about modern, classy elegance. If you or your fiancée love classic cars, this is an excellent choice. If you’ve always envisioned a dark, chic feel to your reception with twinkling lights and swanky music, the Kemp Auto Museum is an excellent choice to check out. It’s a large venue and very unique-something most of your guests probably haven’t seen before.
New Town: New Town is located in Saint Charles, Missouri. It’s a fairly new community that hosts the choice of four venues. They have a beautiful old-style chapel available for ceremonies, or you can get married in front of their beautiful fountains. Receptions can be held at their amphitheatre or in their Town Hall. The amphitheatre has plenty of room, but is an outdoor venue. The Town Hall is extremely small (120 guests would be a squeeze). All four venues are beautiful, most boasting a fairly simple décor that can be easily decorated to fit the vision for your wedding and reception. They have specific caterers to choose from, but most of the other vendors are optional. New Town is somewhat out of the way as it is north of downtown Saint Charles, but you can hold both ceremony and reception there. Also, New Town is a quaint community that has amazing photo opportunities for bride, groom and wedding party. The price is also reasonable for the space and beauty that you get.
Old Hickory Golf Club: Old Hickory is in Saint Peters, Missouri very close to the intersection of 94 and Mid Rivers Mall Drive. Old Hickory is hidden and you would never guess a beautiful golf course and clubhouse were hiding in the midst of busy suburbia. Still, once you cross the small bridge, you are transported from fast food and strip malls to beautiful rolling hills, a lovely course, a wonderful clubhouse-all surrounded by trees. You can hold a ceremony on the grounds and a reception in the clubhouse. The clubhouse is a beautiful mix of wood and stone. The possible rooms for ceremonies are covered with windows overlooking the beautiful scenery. I was shocked at the beauty of this little heard of establishment. Classy, gorgeous, with numerous size possibilities, Old Hickory is a lovely place to hold a ceremony and reception. However, it is a bit pricey (probably still less expensive than some downtown venues).
Another great feature of these venues is that, currently, all venues get back to you very quickly and are very accommodating. You never want to work with a venue that won’t get back with you. Oftentimes, accommodations for guests will also be less expensive outside of the city.
These are just four of the amazing venues outside of Saint Louis. Downtown is not the only option for Saint Louis brides anymore. These venues are just as beautiful and elegant as those offered downtown. Especially if you live outside of St. Louis, these are great venues to contact for a consultation.
