The other day I was on a quest to find something to relieve my nasal congestion. I have always used a home remedy that does offer some relief, but is not a good thing to do when you are trying to rest. After not being able to sleep without sitting up in the bed or waking up every hour because I couldn’t breathe, I was set out to try something new. I had heard of the nasal strips that are supposed to help you breathe better, so I told my husband I wanted to try them no matter what they cost. I was willing to do anything for a little better nights sleep. We went to Wal-Mart to purchase them and walked into the aisle in the pharmacy department with the cold and flu medications. I started looking and found two different ones: Breathe Right and a cheaper brand.
We purchased the Breathe Right strips because they were the only ones that were for people with small to medium noses. I’m always up for a bargain so if I can pay the same price for a larger package, I’d pick the larger package, but I couldn’t do that this time because the nasal strips have to fit right or they don’t work. Most people have a small to medium nose, so it’s best to start there first for anyone who wants to purchase the product. On the package it says that the strips relieve nasal congestion and also reduce snoring. I was skeptical, but I will try anything once.
After taking a hot bath to relieve some of my congestion, my husband and I went to bed like we normally do. I placed the strip on my nose in the right spot according to the package. I noticed that it made my nose itch a little and I was worried that it might cause irritation because some adhesives do. When I lay down I noticed that it did pull up on my nostrils and did help me breathe a little. I didn’t think they would work great since at first they only offered a little relief. I kept it on to try it out all night. When I awoke in the morning, I was shocked.
First of all I was shocked because I slept all night. I never sleep all night, even when I’m not sick. The second reason I was shocked because I felt better in the morning and could still breathe through my nose. The third reason I was shocked was for the fact that when I pulled the strip off it came off easily and there was no red mark from the adhesive. I do suggest for anyone to try the Breathe Right Nasal Strips because they do work and they will not irritate the skin. They do feel a little awkward at first, but stick with them and you will see relief.
