There are not too many TV stations that I can consistently put on and get a show that I want to watch almost every time. The exception to this rule is the History Channel. This channel has consistently come out with good shows and documentaries for several seasons now. The best thing about the history channel is the wide range of subjects they cover, from UFO’s to the universe, monsters to gangs, and ancient secrets to underground cities. Below are several shows that are currently airing on the History Channel that you should definitely watch:
1.) The UFO Hunters — Show consists of 3 crew members each week. Premise of the show is to research scientifically people’s claims when they have witnessed UFOs. This show does a great job in having the three crew members look at things from different perspectives to come up with the “right” answers. Several recent episodes have included large UFOs seen by pilots, reports of lots of UFOs over Britain in 2008 and UFOs seen around airports. The three crew members (Bill, Ted, and Pat) will interview key witnesses, analyze any video or audio recordings and then will test a more likely explanation to see if something normal actually occurred. This show runs for one hour with new episodes on Wednesday’s at 10PM (EST).
2.) Monsterquest — This show does not have a set crew that appears in each episode. What is does have are investigators that will go in search of legendary or reported “monsters.” Each episode will have a different gang of investigators who have been searching for a particular creature. The show focuses on reported sightings and if possible video, audio or other physical evidence concerning the creature. Recent episodes have included searching for Bigfoot, the Swamp Ape, gigantic fish (catfish, eels) and the Chupacabra. At the present time Monsterquest has not found any conclusive evidence of any ot the creatures it has been searching for. The show runs for one hour with new episodes on Wednesday’s at 9PM (EST).
3.) Gangland — This show goes into the most dangerous gangs in the world to learn about the life and death of the members of these groups. Interviews are conducted on the streets, in prisons, and in “safe houses.” This is a very gripping show and shows how tough it is to be a member of these gangs. Also explored are the agencies that are trying to control these gangs and to find ways to lessen their influence in the community. This show runs for usually one hour but does not have a set day that it always runs. Next episode is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26 at 9PM (EST).
4.) Ancient Discoveries — This show deals with the technology of our ancestors and explores how well developed they were in certain aspects of their lives. The shows have involved ancient warfare, ancient buildings, and ancient clocks and other measuring devices the ancients used. Some good upcoming episodes are going to concern the First Emporer’s terracotta army, the advanced calender system of the Mayans and other discoveries still being made about the skills and equipment of our ancestors. This show is very informational and is a must for any history buff—some of the things you learn in these shows will astonish you!
This show usually airs on Thursdays at 10PM (EST).
There are many other shows on the history channel that are worth watching besides these four. Some of these are: The Universe, Cities of the Underground, Axmen, Ice Road Truckers and Modern Marvels. No matter what you are interested in you will find something on this channel that is worth watching so check it out.
