As the summer winds down and schools starts up, there is one last weekend for kids and parents alike to enjoy. Here are some Labor Day weekend events in Atlanta, GA:

Celebrate Freedom Atlanta – Atlanta, GA (Sep 1)
Celebrate Freedom Atlanta is Atlanta’s largest free one-day outdoor concert. This year’s concert will take place on September 1, 2007 during Labor Day weekend at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. Tickets are free. Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival at Callaway Gardens – Pine Mountain, GA (Aug 31 – Sep 2)
The annual Callaway Gardens Labor Day Weekend festival features old-fashioned fun and the beauty of the sky filled the color of hot air balloons. Highlights include balloon rides, family-friendly activities, music, exhibits, demonstrations and more. Friday evening features a gorgeous balloon glow, and balloons will lift off throughout the holiday weekend, including morning and evening lift offs on Saturday and Sunday. Montreux Jazz Festival – Atlanta, GA – (Aug 31 – Sep 2)
A sister event to the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, this eagerly awaited festival at Underground Atlanta features live music performances (both indoors and on outdoor stages) in jazz, blues, soul, hip-hop, gospel, Latin, alternative and more. Kids will enjoy an interactive Kid’s Zone plus arts and crafts and food will be available at a variety of food vendors. Art in the Park – Marietta, GA (Sep 1 – Sep 3)
Come visit the 21st Annual Art in the Park, one of the largest art shows in the Southeast. Held in Victorian Glover Park, this fine art show highlights 150 artists, plus Kid’s Row for family fun, walking tours of five registered historic districts and more. Annual Labor Day Festival, Banks County Courthouse – Homer, GA (Aug 31 – Sep 2)

AJC Decatur Book Festival – Decatur, GA (Aug 31 – Sep 2)

An annual book festival held in downtown Decatur. Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins will perform on Sunday, September 2nd as the finale. Zakes Mda, legendary South African author, poet, journalist, playwright, and painter, will be a featured guest.
