Just like the seasons, your little one is changing quickly and now is the perfect time of year for a fun outdoor photo shoot to celebrate the fall colors. Here are some ideas to help you get creative with a slide photo shoot for your little one!
1. Pumpkin Patch – Take your little one to a local pumpkin patch and get all the work done! If you have an older child, take pictures as they explore the scene then put them in select “on the pumpkin” in the patch to sit near a few photos. If you have a crawling/standing one, take pictures so that they move from pumpkin to pumpkin and lean a bit on the chosen pumpkins for support. If you have a baby, you can either bring a blanket or boppy pillow for support, or try to support them with two pumpkins. Be sure to take both close-up and stage shots as well.
2. The Perfect Leaf – Look around your garden or local park and find the biggest, most beautiful leaf you can find. Have your child hold the leaf by its mouth to get it close up. If it’s a baby, keep a leaf. They try to cover different parts of their face – and make something even better. This is a great way to get creative with your photos!
3. Apple Tree – Head to your local cider mill and you’ll find the fullest apple tree you can find. . Help your friend/partner at least one up the tree so you can take photos. Photos of your child biting and picking apples, and even photos of them in the tree. If you have a small one, find an angled branch so they can “lay” on the branch. Try and pick a spot in the background of many leaves and apples. Make sure someone is there to hold your baby/child so they don’t fall!
4. Fruit harvest – Go to your local farmers market or crops and take pictures of small ones with different fall harvests vegetables Indian corn is a fun one, and many fun squashes are available this time of year as well. Take your photos with the vegetable selection before the crop for a great retreat. Hint: put your child in a white color to stand out, or red or gold.
5. The pumpkin is painted – Your child picks a pumpkin and takes it home to decorate it. You can paint their name on it, age, initial, funny face, make a jack-o-lantern or write their birthday on it. Then head to the backyard and proudly display their pumpkins. If you have a baby, support your little one with a blanket or boppy pillow.
6. Cutie in the Hay – There is plenty of hay in the fall, so get out to your provider and go through the pile. Take photos of your little one climbing in it and have them sit still for a few photos. You can also head to your local mill – most of them can climb or erect a hay tower for your child.
7. A Pile of Leaves – Before you put a pile of disturbed leaves in the bag, take a photo of your child playing in it. This is a great way to give your children a shot of the fun activity. If you have a baby, put them in or around a pile. You can also place your baby on the tummy on a boppy pillow and leave appropriate leaves around them.
8. Letters on leaves – Rake your yard and in a clean area of your yard, write the first letter of your child’s name or write their full name on leaves. Your child or baby was lying next to the letter.
9. Big, Red Apple – The most perfect, juicy, big red apple you can find. Light it up and give it to your little one. Take a photo of them holding it first, then let them take a big bite with the camera click!
10. Giant pumpkins – Go to your local pumpkin patch and you can get your child to climb the biggest pumpkin! Take the pictures as they climb up on it, peak from behind, and sit on it;
