Chrysler revealed the 200C, but it didn’t really work towards production. Fortunately for Fiat, whose Chrysler has now given the green light to the 200C. The saloon is going to be the most entertaining, having an electric motor combined with a V6 for better efficiency.
The car is surprisingly stylish, considering that Chrysler hasn’t made a good looking car in a while! It will likely share a platform with the 300C. But, unlike the 300C, we’ll actually handle this, or at least we think so. Let it be and it will give some good luck, so that it is better not only to help in the right line.
The inside is also a thing of beauty. The concept literally had a very elegant and luxurious interior with two rear seats, not just a bench. But better, the exterior is the thing of beauty. It is very light with elegant curves. Nothing like 300C. The 300C is essentially a box, while this car is more modern. For a little taste of what’s to come for Chrysler with the 200C, there are many official pictures from the auto show, here’s one.
The reason for these reminds me of the Opel Insignia, which I like very much. The word is very European. There is a problem. Chrysler has been building boxes for decades, and now this new concept of curves has been introduced to them. It’s a very small game. And that is excellent! In general, I want the company to stick to tradition and take design cues from the past. Rolls Royce, for example, built the Ghost – a famous car that looks like a box. But again, it’s a fantasy to see. We encourage Chrysler to break with tradition, and that’s what they did with the 200C.
Now Toyota, Chevrolet, Honda, and some others have already given us hybrids, but Chrysler for some reason decided not to bother until it came up with the ENVI system. With most of the hybrid market taken over by Priuses and Honda insights, where does Chrysler fit in? Well, one of the most disgusting figures Prius said will have to go. So the Honda Insight. Hybrid-cars represent modern technology and should not look like you are behind. And while I’ll be the first to say that I’m not a fan of hybrid technology, unless it has something to do with the hydrogen fuel cell, I like the 200C. The reason is that it is an elegant car. It is “green” and beautiful.
So with the 200C looking this good, and a little brother to the 300C, what’s the point of the 300C? It’s ugly, it’s big and the pillow is said, it’s not very fuel efficient. Everything is not 200C! I’m hoping for a replacement, unless Fiat is going to ditch the 300C and give it some Italian treatment.
