Located in the middle of Long Island, CWI Medical has become a nationally recognized medical company. Likewise, CWI Medical is the leading distributor of clinical nutrition offerings from Novartis, Ross, Nestle and Pro-Stat. In addition, CWI Medical carries various medical equipment such as Wheelchairs and Walkers.
CWI Medical was started by Shirley Lam in 1992. From his garage he studied and designed from a local environment to build a nationally recognized company. He was joined in 1995 with his first-born son, Noah, and his second son, Norbert, and daughter, Alicia, a few years later. Both of them worked outside the company to kill different performance details. Everyone didn’t mind working with Mom, and before you knew it, they were brothers and sisters working together. Shirley is surprised that she is struggling with one child, let alone all of her children.
While many families prefer to avoid each other even on holidays, many family businesses stop growing for many reasons. Lam’s family are very strong and continue to grow beyond family members. They recognize team members‘s strengths and develop them as an extended family.
Recently, Shirley was one of the Inc. Magazine’s Entreprenuer was recognized as Reader’s Favorite of the Year. The CWI physician has also been awarded with Accreditation by the ACHC-Accreditation Commission for Health Care.
Looking to the future, there are plans to build multi-generational families, similar to Johnson & Johnson. Things look bright at CWI Medical.
