News Update – Crimes in Royal Oak, Michigan
Lt. Gordon Young of the Royal Oak Police Department reports the crimes for the week of September 17 through September 24, 2010.

Summary: Theft of one car- 9/23. A blue 1984 Oldsmobile was stolen from her driveway. Nine complaints of burglary. 9/19 – From the door of the apartment in the stables and the backpack and prescriptions are missing. 9/17 – Break in through the back and a laptop, computer and jewelry were stolen. 9/22 – Someone tried to scan the garage door opener. 9/21 – Someone breaks in through a window while an acquaintance is sleeping and steals a purse and checkbook. 9/20 – Laptops stolen from his room. 9/21 – Someone tried to check the last open door. 9/22 – Another laptop was stolen. 9/22 – Someone broke into his business and stole money. 9/22 – Other break-ins to their property and more money stolen. Six complaints of car theft. 9/19 – car windows and GPS were stolen. 9/19 – Another broke a window and another stole a GPS. 9/18 – another car window broken and purse stolen. 9/21 – Someone stole two i-pods and a car CD player from an unlocked car. 9/23 – Someone broke into a car and stole a 43rd District Court badge. 9/23 – Witnesses report seeing three suspicious looking men in vehicles with headlights. There were two on foot and one on a bike. They left the hardware tools that were found stolen from the pickup truck. Five complaints of robbery. 9/19 – A woman was caught stealing groceries from Meijer. 9/21 – Two males are arrested for driving a manhole. 9/22 – A retail fraud suspect was arrested in the civil war figure. 9/23 – Someone broke into a safe at USA Opportunity and took money from a wallet. 9/23 – A utility trailer was stolen and had a John Deer lawn mower on it. The suspect is a white male in his 40s.

My thoughts. Finally. So what if you don’t lock your car, it sounds like you’re breaking your windows anyway. Don’t leave your laptop unattended anywhere and don’t leave your checkbook, GPS, or money around! Hopefully, some of the arrests this week will stop some of these types of crimes from happening in the future.
