It was a terrible time. But getting it wrong never has a good, let alone a perfect time. But this was bad.
My husband and I are completely opposite. My company is closing this week because my husband’s firm won’t allow any overtime. But he had three days plus a holiday so we made reservations to spend some work on the two at the same time. After fighting two terrible colds, which my assistants suffered 4 days before we were to leave. Yep, sick as the proverbial dog right when we were finally going to have some romance. Figures.
I have an auto-immune disease, so I plan every cold to get into some form of bacterial misery. This is no exception. The day before I left, my fever broke and I thought I was better. But no, alas! Fortunately, we managed to somehow manage it and also managed to enjoy our time together. However, I have never been so grateful that you approached the doctor the day after we returned.
By the time I got to my institute, my fever was 102, I couldn’t breathe, speak or hear, and I had terrible dizziness. The doctor prescribed nasal sprays, some dizziness, decongestants/antihistamines and cephalexin (k-flex) for the infection. Fortunately, I had a good reaction to the medicine and it started working its magic within 48 hours. I still didn’t feel great, but at least I didn’t know I was “dying sick” anymore. In my case, cephalexin had been a good choice. Not everyone can say the same.
Cephalexin is a powerful antibiotic that is usually well tolerated even by people who have problems with penicillins and sulfa drugs. Usually, however, an allergic side effects happens moderately, so you need to go to the emergency room or if it’s severe enough, call 911. These are the most dangerous and life-threatening of the bunch: any difficulty breathing, your swelling. face, lips, tongue, or throat that impair your ability to breathe.
Other serious side effects are: seizures, mental confusion, muscle weakness and easy bruising with blood. Some people are known to either be unable to urinate or to reduce their trips to the bathroom to a dangerous amount. There are side effects that are less likely to threaten your life, but painful all the same, and no one would call it pleasant. As usual, if your doctor feels that cephalexin is the best choice to clear up the infection, ask him/her why they feel it is the best solution. All medications have side effects with no exception to cephalexin, but I must say that I am far better. grab
