Daniel Day-Lewis’s Psychos- Bill the Butcher Vs. Daniel Plainview

Daniel Day-Lewis has received an almost historic amount of praise and once again returns to the movies every fifth year. ” “There Will Be Blood” features Day-Louis as the bitter, greedy, and ultimately insane Daniel Plainview, an oilman who loses his mind in search of a big hit. Perhaps Day’s most famous part time played a psychopath for five years. A way of having what they want
Bill the Butcher: Don’t bother manipulating enemies – just chop them with the butcher’s axe.

Plainview: ‘drink… your… LACKHAKE!! SLUUURPPP!! I will drink!!”

Great support
Bill the Butcher: The American Flag.
Plainview: his son H.W.

Books in praise of Daniel Day-Louis
Bill Butcher: Half the critics loved “Gangs of New York” and half hated it – but that’s the only reason they loved Day-Lewis.

Ludwig’s Prizes
Bill the Butcher: Day-Lewis’ Oscar prejudice split with Jack Nicholson, but lost both Oscars to Adrien Brody.
Plainview: Garnered Day-Lewis almost every major pre-Oscar award out there, making him a giant favorite to win his second Oscar.

Do they win in the end?
Bill the Butcher: No way.
Plainview: Yes and no- he loses as much as he wins.

Claralast words
Bill the Butcher: “Thank God…I die a true American.”
Plainview: “I’m perfect!”
