As a lover of dystopia novels, I decided to compile an entire list of all dystopia novels. After a few weeks, I realized that the list could never be complete, as there was always one book hiding in the back corner of the library, a darker letter or a new book, just as it was born, from the hot press. So my plan is always a work in progress, but I already have a very nice start that will keep even the most avid reader busy for a while.
First to clarify: What is a dystopia? If you’ve found this article, you may already know that, but in case you haven’t, dystopia is simply the opposite of utopia. Utopia, which we hear about far too often, is a perfect world where everything is great. Dystopia is the opposite: in dystopia everything can be bad and nothing but worse.
Why the fascination of my dystopia stories? The young man began as a teenager, although I did not know his name at the time; I just knew that there were certain books that I loved and often seemed to me to have an underlying theme. It was, of course, a novel dystopia. That’s why I loved them so much, for many years it seems, but finally I did. No, although at first, only because I am morbid or a pessimist. I might be fine with those too, but my love of dystopia stories is something else.
We live in a disconnected alien world where different information is emitted from all sources. Chances are we have more worries and fears than we should. When I read dystopia stories, I realized I’m not alone in fear. I saw how someone dealt with those fears and addressed them; It also instilled in me the wisdom and strength to consider the consequences of your actions and the importance of acting as responsible stewards of our planet. Not to mention.
When fears can be shaped and formed through the written word, they stop being so foggy and find answers more easily and don’t feel so overwhelmed and alone.
So I remain a defender of dystopia novels everywhere and submit the following list for your viewing pleasure, so you can catch up on the ones you’ve missed!
