Woven Jute Area Rug Project

The area covered is so expensive. I’m always looking for great affordable options to either make my own rug or dress up a rug. This woven Jute area rug is beautiful, durable, and best of all it looks a lot more expensive than it is. You can make this Jute area rug without sewing, which is an easy projection that anyone can make.

You can buy jute fabric at almost any fabric store. It will cost about $8 a stick. This project can be done as little as 3 yards and as much as 4 yards, depending on how big you make it!

To make a woven Jute Area Rug you must:

Jute fabric
Hot glue
Stress Fabric
Scissors
Tape measure

The first step is to decide how big you want your jute rug to be on the floor. This fabric will work well up to an 8X10 foot rug.

Cut your fabric strips into 4″ wide pieces. If you’re making an 8X10 rug, you’ll want to cut your pieces exactly 8′ by 10′ feet. If you want, cut your strips a few inches longer and cut them. Then you’ve completed the document.

You will not need 24 strips for an 8′ section. You will need 30 strips for a 10′ section.

Place 24 strips for an 8-foot side of the jute rug side by side. I like to tape the ends with a single line of duct tape to hold the tape in place. Just tape them to your floor or work surface.

Now begin to remove these from the extreme side. Your clothes are about 10 feet long. Continue this process. Weaving alternately and under new sda force jute.

To get to the end of the 10 foot strip, use your hot glue gun to glue the end down.

You may find that you need to use glue dots in the middle to hold the straps in place.

Continue this weaving process until you have completed an 8X10′ area rug.

When you’re done, you can adjust the edges to match your sides. Do not worry about arguing, because theses will cover the edges.

Now, you can add some color around the edges and the fun is over.

Cut a 4″ wide strip of accent fabric. You will need two 8 foot pieces and 2 10 foot pieces. Add 2 to 3″ to the length of each of these strips. This is very important for the completion of this project.

I like to use this heavy accent. The colored canvas is wonderful. You can also use heavy duty upholstery fabric.

Fold both sides of the accent fabric into one crochet. Do this on both sides. This will make your 4 inch wide strip into a 2 inch strip. These fields of iron hold their place.

Now fold the entire strip into it making a 1 inch strip. Iron this as well.

Insert this fabric into the edge of your rug area. This will cover the rough edges and provide an accent on both sides of the rug. You can hot glue this.

Repeat this process for the remaining three sides of the blanket.

When you tie the end of the corner, go one inch into the leather edges. Complicate to 90 degree agile. This will create a crowning spectacle for any corner that is very clean and sleek looking.

Now your bed is an affordable area. It’s reversible, durable, and costs you less than $50!
