It is summer. So set up a tent in the backyard, grab a Jiffy Pop and send the kids outside to grab a few guns. If it rains, there are always summer camp movies to get them. With that said, here are my top five favorite family camp movies available:
“RV”
If you want a lot of great, hearty belly laughs, pick up a copy of the movie “RV.” Robin Williams flies to the stars as a miserable , the first RV camper who convinces his family to take aRoad trip to Colorado. After years of working in the plains, I found many of the most hilarious scenes in camp. One of my favorite was when Williams attempts to set-up the RV the first time. Heck Hard in The sewer line runs through the film’s full run, which is called Gornickes. The film is rated PG to say the least.
“Ernest Goes to Camp”
The 1987 flick, “Ernest Goes to Camp”, will have kids laughing from start to finish. Jim Varney stars as the affable Ernest and has a place in the fictional Kamp Kikakee. As the newest camp counselor, Ernest gets the proverbial punch. He hides and camps destruction has to attract everyone together. One of the plays takes place when Ernest is instructing the kids on how to treat his family better. The movie has a PG rating.
“Meatballs”
“Meatballs” is the quintessential camp movie. It’s also one of the first camp movies I ever watched as a child. The movie stars Bill Murray as the camp counselor known as Tripper. In the movie, Tripper takes a socially awkward camper named Rudy under his wing and tries to help him navigate the dangers of summer. camp He also spends part of the film’s gags on Morty, the camp director. The scenes that feature Morty waking up in odd places have been some of my favorites. The movie is rated PG.
“Delights”
When the 1980 camp movie, “Little Darlings” was first released, I remember my friends and I sparked discussions over the story of the movie. We were pre-teens at the time. For those who don’t remember the film, it starred Matt Dillon, Tatum O’Neal and Kristy McNichol. O’Neal and McNichol are at summer camp at summi and they are betting to see who will lose. first virginity The targets of the raging hormones are played by actors Matt Dillon and Armand Assante. In the film, the girls examine the emotional aspects of sex, love and relationships. Some scenes, like the ones that take place on the boat between Dillon and McNichol, can be a bit too intense for viewers. As such, I do not recommend it for younger kids. R. is valued.
“TroopBeverly Hills”
If you’ve ever spent time at Girl Scout camp, you may remember the camp from the 1989 movie, “Troop Beverly Hills.” Stars a wide array of celebrities including Shelly Long, Cheech Marin and Tori Spelling. The storyline focuses on the delicate mom played by Shelly Long. Throughout the film, Long trades Louis Vuitton handbags and Prada shoes for hiking boots, bag and team leader position with “Desert Girl.” One of my favorite parts of the movie occurs when Long’s team competes with other teams to sell more “Desert Girl” cookies. Actually, it reminded me of my youth and what it helps to “move the big cookie wars.” Towards the end of the movie, Longa and her team end up camping in the desert as part of the annual “Desert Girl”. The results are hilarious and heartwarming. The movie is rated PG.
