ISP review of PeoplePC

A few years ago when I first started using the internet I gave away my home phone and cable. I didn’t really have the money to get broadband internet access at the time, so I started thinking about different options. . PeoplePC was very popular around this time.

Once while checking the mail I received a CD for PeoplePC and started reading what they had to offer. At the time PeoplePC had a monthly fee of $9.95 and claimed to be better than other services on the clock. AOL was around $24.95 at the time and a few others were more expensive. Cable broadband was starting at $39.29 from my cable provider – which I knew would probably go up pretty quickly as my cable bill seemed to make a lot of difference in my service. Funding from PeoplePC seemed to be the best way to go.

One of the first things PeoplePC said to do on that CD I got was to check to see if there was a number for my area. I entered the phone number and entered the local area number of the service number in the middle of the PC – I only got five numbers inside. my local calling area (without long distance charges). For the heck of it, I checked a few of the other clock providers and found even fewer (AOL had five in my area, but three of them for long-term use; Netscape only had two in my area). PeoplePC was looking better at this time for numbers and costs and area of ​​service code.

I still wanted more information to check the contents of the CD without extracting anything. It seemed pretty safe (I’m picky about what I put on my computer LOL). So I put the CD in and signed up with PeoplePC. Even then I wasn’t 100% sure I was making the right choice. After downloading the CD contents and completing the signup information I was ready to start surfing.

I have had many friends friends who have been using dial-up service for years and they all told me to be prepared to be ripped off from time to time. They also told me that the speed of the clock is slow so that it doesn’t try to rush.

PeoplePC was slow with broadband internet, but not as slow as AOL or other services my friends were using. I wasn’t completely disconnected from the first two months I used their program. This next to my IT friend was rare. He told me that if I went that long without disconnecting it was probably due to a lack of PeoplePC Signers within my area. I was more than satisfied with both services.

Finally the day came when I started having problems. I didn’t really know what the problem was, but I knew I was going to have to call the 800 number on the CD. I called PeoplePC and waited on the phone for about ten minutes (the time of this call was about 11:30am). After the first ten minutes the live operator answered and was very friendly and did not get off the phone with me. He took care of the problem within a few minutes and even listened to a few of my corny jokes that I remember from my group.

PeoplePC has proven time and time again that they care about the customer – at least for this customer. I’ve been using PeoplePC for about a full year and I’ve never felt overwhelmed in any of the three support service calls I’ve made (mostly on stupid things I’ve figured out how to fix). My disconnection times have been few and far between. I loved PeoplePC and will probably go back to them if and when I no longer have broadband. I highly recommend PeoplePC to anyone.
