Fisher Price Barney Laptop Review – Ages 18 Months – 4 Years

I bought a Barney lap top for my daughter after looking in the Fingerhut catalog, all children’s toys. Disgusted with the arrival; The laptop did not live up to expectations.

The green and purple Fisher Price Barney laptop comes with 5 double-sided plastic cards featuring Barney, B.J., and Baby Bop painted in different backgrounds and scenes. No assembly was required, it had a built in storage compartment to hold five cards, folded easily and came with a handle for easy portability. The exterior of the laptop looked great, it wasn’t until I opened it that I was really disappointed. When I opened the laptop, I was shocked to find that the laptop monitor did not contain any real graphics at all!

A square window with a slot that was sufficient for the monitor and in this window plastic cards (5) were supposed to be inserted. When the plastic card is inserted in the window, 8 seconds, the music began to play, Barney then pushes the child a dagger, the child can press numbers, figures, or Barney’s button, if Barney’s button is pressed. Barnius will ask questions related to color, shape, and numbering. If numbers or figures are pressed, Barnius will pronounce them. I bought this lap top for then 22 months ago, but I put too much emphasis on that meaning and was constantly feeding numbers and figures. Nothing spectacular, nothing outstanding in this art, it was very direct and boring. The pictures were too small, cluttered and overwhelming to find anything Barney asked for. It is also a little advanced for her age, produced at eighteen months 4 years; with targets towards 3-4. I will not say that 1 and 2 birthday parties do not know their number; shapes and colors, the very fact that they quickly pay off the interest, because the product does not have the wow factor, it is very dull.

The laptop key was not a real keyboard, but the number keys were 1-9, and 6 were colored figures. My young daughter became frustrated with Barney’s laptop because she found it difficult to place it inside the movie windows. It was also in vain for him because of the gravity and abundance of the questions, Barney’s laptop marked 110 questions and suggests.

This product disappointed me, no music (except for 8 second melodies), no real monitor, no mouse, no variety of games, no graphics, the laptop consisted of a file still illustrated picture frames. The product description was misleading, it was not age appropriate. My daughter would not take the time to answer all of Barney’s questions; she answered about 3 questions, but it would be pointless if she answered more. My daughter loved the product, but not for its educational purpose, she enjoyed pulling out the charts and outside, through the window and through the eight seconds of music.

I want this product to be made with at least 2 minutes of music. I would recommend this childhood product 3-5, this product is great for his training; interactive value and that it provides a rich sense of form of play. Considering the level of age appropriate, I would give this product a rating of 3. I just feel as if the product is geared towards youth of 18 years month and up, more would be put into this laptop;
