Product Review: Dansko Shoes for Work, Comfort and Style

A few months ago I noticed a friend of mine sporting very attractive and comfortable shoes. I asked about these and was told that they were made by the Dansko company. When I asked about the comfort, he said that they were like bare feet; I wondered about the durability and he said that I would probably fail my Dansko shoes before I wore them.

Dankso appealed to me as a teacher, mother of four and someone almost constantly on my feet. I also suffer from spina bifida and acute scoliosis back. Many times at the end of a long day I can barely stand or walk. I also walk my feet outside. Every pair of buying shoes wears out very quickly, causing me to walk on the edges more. Even those who rub with a stronger sun, I will buy very shortly after them. Of course the shoes are almost useless at that point. And since they are primarily made by slave labor for overpriced American companies, most shoes are much cheaper. which had years of better reputation.

Still a little doubtful that I could actually find a pair of quality shoes, I went to Trade House, a regular Dansko dealer. I immediately found that they differed in at least one way, they were at a small price…$114 a pair. I asked about the salespeople; they assured me that Dansko was not made in the East, and that the plants were indeed made of more durable material. But being a very pragmatic rather cynical person, I was pretty sure the sales line was just to get my money.

However, I had to admit that Dansko’s tried on felt supportive, especially on my arches. Indeed, I felt for the first time like a horse shod. I felt like I was walking on bricks. The soles of the shoes are not so heavy as they are substantial. I asked for a price, but my husband encouraged me to try a pair, reminding me that if Dansko worked, I would actually be saving money, he buys shoes every month. Figured he had a good point.

Dansko also notes that the American-diabetes-association”>American Podiatrists Association is suitable for orthopedic shoes. my nurse says its almost indestructible. Dansko did a good job for the decorator and the staff. Our supervisor at Best Buy finds them very convenient as the salesperson is always on the move.

So I bought a pair of Dansko’s about two months ago and have been wearing them every day since. Use them for clothing, work, casual, etc. Danskos are simple and attractive. Cordovan I chose the color and with the floating dress and pants I chose well. At first they felt a little tight, but after a few days of use they fit perfectly. Dansko’s are European sizes and do not come in half American sizes. Because they have a lower back (not slow, but slip-in) they are looser in the heel.

I found that my feet and legs were much more comfortable. My back doesn’t hurt after a day on my feet. The sides don’t seem to wear at all. I still have my reservations, mostly of my skeptical nature, but I am very impressed and have happy feet.
