Product Review: Capresso Infinity Burr Grinder

Coffee grinders are not all built the same and a good quality cup of coffee starts with grinding the beans with a good quality lap grinder like the Infinitas by Capresso.

I learned a lot about coffee and making a really good cup of coffee doesn’t start only with good beans, but with the coffee grinder and the maker you use. Good brands of fresh beans are not available in grocery stores but can be purchased from the internet or even local coffee shops. These are more expensive, but for a really fresh coffee that hasn’t been seasoned for weeks before finally landing at your local grocery store, it’s on its way fresh from the source.

There are several good coffee vendors that sell the freshest coffee beans that you can grind yourself for the freshest and best tasting coffee, espresso and cappuccino. To get good tasting coffee, you need to grind your own beans, the stuff that comes in a can won’t do and buying fresh beans from a supplier or online source is much better than grocery store or even Starbucks bought beans.

Beans available from stores such as Starbucks are not as fresh as those available from suppliers who often roast their own or buy directly from available sources. So a good cup of aromatic fresh coffee starts with freshly roasted beans, then you need to grind them in a fine coffee grinder for use in your coffee or espresso maker.

The difference between already ground store bought coffee and grinding with a ground grinder versus a lap grinder are essentially the same. Store bought the ground coffee is not as fresh as the kind you grind or grind with a coffee grinder, essentially what are those grinding plates , a verfus lappa crusher.

First and foremost about brewing coffee is to brew the freshest coffee you can from bean to cup. This means that taking your own roasted beans and grinding them yourself will give you a fresher cup of coffee that will smell and taste better.

This is because the beans have every flavor included, and when they are heated. run through the water, the ground beans will pick up a bunch of flavor from the water. If you grind the coffee and then seal it in the container, the flavor is already leaking into the air, either inside the container or in the room.

That’s why the coffee smells good when you first open the chameleon bought in the stores of the land. Every taste and smell bursts forth when you first open it and then it’s gone. So grinding your beans makes sense to leave all the flavor in the beans until you first brew the coffee, but what about the type of grinder.

If you use an iron grinder like the ones you see for coffee and spices, they heat things up by the nature of the iron grinder. The constant force of the herb hitting the bean and ground coffee creates some heat and that heat will release the flavor from the grounds. Again, when the coffee grinder is ironed and the container is opened, it smells wonderful, but the flavor and aroma is wasted in the room instead of going out into the cup.

What we really want for a good cup of coffee is that all the flavor, taste and aroma are in the cup of coffee, and not floating around in the air wasted in the room. The lap grinder has a small conical iron that rotates slowly against the round iron, which has the same angle as the conical iron of the grinder so that the beans are ground between the two. As you can see in one picture, both the blades fit easily into each other, and the bean grinds according to how close they are to each other.

The motor of the Infinity Burr Grinder has been reduced by years so the grinding plates move slowly so the beans and coffee can’t heat up while it does its job. The engine can handle the buzzer easily and won’t heat up when you’re buzzing from work.

The Infinity Burr Grinder model 565 is a nice solid grinder with a chrome rim, stainless steel case or black ABS plastic and plastic base. Easy to clean bean containers. The bean container has a lid on top for easy storage and the grinding pad sits inside for easy removal for cleaning.

The plastic coffee container that includes the coffee grounds can also be easily removed to refill your coffee or espresso maker. The hassle of working with the switch is controlled, so that there is no problem of forgetting to turn off the machine and have to grind the beans. A lap grinder can run without beans and it will not perish, but it is not a good idea to leave the grinder without working.

Due to the possibility of finding small rocks in the coffee beans that you buy, you should look at the beans as you pour them into the container of beans in top and do not leave the mill in operation to close it quickly if you run a stone through it. This should not damage the grinder as long as you close it and remove the rock, but if you drop the rock to grind, the blade could damage the grinder parts.

The Infinity Burr Grinder is very easy to clean, simply remove the bean from the top by twisting the two insert points and pulling the container off. The grinding blade comes out just by pulling it out and shaking out the inside of the grinding area which you often have to do.

A grinder blade does a great job of grinding the beans but you only need to grind as much as you’re using at the moment for the freshest and best tasting coffee. The lap grinder comes with a cleaning brush to help remove grounds from the lap area as well as a scoop to release your coffee.

From large coarse coffee grinds perfect for regular coffee blending to a Turkish pith grind for espresso. There are 16 marked settings that you can use by turning the top of the coffee bean container to different fineness settings. The plastic bin on top of the beans holds about 9 ounces while the plastic ground container holds 4 ounces of coffee grounds.

The grinder is a bit noisy, but I have two grinders much less than steel and will never use them again for coffee. With timer settings from 5 seconds to 60 seconds you can grind a buzzing amount of coffee at one time and the pulse grinds the coffee directly into the espresso filter for easy espresso.

The Infinity Capresso Burr Grinder works very well and is the most important part of brewing a fantastic tasting cup of coffee, espresso or cappuccino. I highly recommend the Capresso Infinity Burr Grinder for the serious coffee lover or the rest of us who just enjoy a good cup of fresh coffee.
