Three years ago my husband and I created a non-profit organization in Missouri. It was a smaller football team and getting it off the ground was a little more difficult than we expected. There were a lot of young people who had talent, but sometimes finding resources and money to work on the team was difficult. We learned from another team owner who became a Not-for-Profit organization just to increase our chances of donations and sponsorships because their businesses could register their generosity on tax income.
There were two other minor-league teams in the area, so it was important for us to find unique marketing strategies. to promote our horses. We have met with several marketing organizations, internal associations and volunteers. During these meetings, we generated a list of five unique marketing strategies for our non-profit that targeted our niche, our niche, and our sponsors. Here are those five marketing strategies that can make almost any organization profitable.
#1 Talk to everyone
I cannot express how important this is in today’s world. Building accounts in your community is vital to your success. Schedule meetings and presentations with civic organizations, other non-profits and state government. If you’re not a fantastic speaker, find someone who is. We need someone who has no problem talking to crowds or people. You want to generate excitement about your organization and what its goals are.
#2 Use the Internet
We took a small tab in our local newspapers, put up signs and posters, and posted ads on a free website like Craiglist to generate interest. . Create a website and promote all content. Keep the site updated and make it look professional. There’s nothing worse than a potential donor visiting your site for the first time and feeling like it was designed by an elementary school student. This will soon become the focus of your organization and it is important that it represents you well.
#3 Don’t Always Look For Cash
It’s money that every non-profit organization needs to operate – or does it? We found business services for ourselves that helped us work in the black. We want to run commercial advertising in our software and on our website for printing services. We found soft drinks distributors who were marketing the product during half-time announcements. To do other things, you do not profit, and in turn they seek the same. Money is good, but not only.
#4 Contact request
If you don’t have contacts to enter, ask people in your organization. See whose father is a member of the local American Legion. Ask if anyone has a contact at the newspaper. You will be surprised who will help you. The only way it won’t work is if you never ask for help.
#5 Don’t be afraid of fun!
When you’re brainstorming for marketing ideas, don’t be afraid to have fun. Sometimes, the most amazing fundraisers or events are the most successful. We had several of our players at remote controlled cars at the event. They had to participate in more races and let’s say they were better football players than RC workers. . It was a great time, even the fans are always perfect in the end!
key to success is to never give up on what you believe in yourself. First of all, marketing strategies will be different for every organization. How do you connect with the community around you that will make your organization successful! Best of luck!
