With the advent of iTunes, many music listeners rarely buy an entire album. We listen to the songs we love on the radio, and we can pick and choose what we buy from the entire CD. Sure we have save money, but we lose in all the failing songs. to hate! Gone are the days when we would listen to an entire album. Now we just create our own game, or let Genius iTunes do it for us. Carrie Underwood has more hate than most people who hit the radio, but she usually only has country radio. For those of you who don’t like Country, but love Carrie, we can miss some of the stories of the songs!
(10) “I Aint in Checotah Anymore” from Some Hearts (Uberwood, Bruce, and Angelo) – An upbeat ode to the town where she grew up, this song is truly an inside look at who Carrie Underwood is. It’s really catchy, super fun and has the usual solid vocals. Lyrics might even make you laugh as you follow this country girl to the big city. I have to be on every Carrie playlist.
(9) “I Don’t Know You” by Carnival Ride (Mobley, Thrash, and McEwan) This is one of the most vocally stunning songs and an exercise in the power of the spirit. He is very honest and kind-hearted, but he also has his own incredible signs of despair. It might be too sad for a summer play, but if you haven’t heard it, you’re missing out.
(8) “Lessons Learned” from Some Heart (Warren) – Penned by Diane Warren, this song is mid-tempo and talks about the mistakes we make in life. It’s not as preachy as some of the songs onPlay de and it’s great to put on when you just need to give some movement to the big vocals. If you get a flat tire or a rumor about a friend, stick to this song to learn and grow.
(7) “Someday When I Stop Loving You” from Play de (Lindsey, McEwan, Sampson) – Underwood’s most delicate and soulful vocal to date. The lyrics are there for someone who is in love with someone who doesn’t pay attention. We’ve all been there, and this song perfectly captures the spirit of someone’s grief. It’s a great way to hear a new part of Carrie’s vocals.
(6) “Dreams” by Carnival Ride (Dean, Verges, and Underwood) – My favorite song to sing for kids. It’s upbeat and has a great message that we can do anything we put our minds to if we follow our dreams! This clang in the car with your kids, so they can even buckle up!
(5) “Never After” from the Song Soundtrack- Another one your kids might enjoy, this song had a video, but it didn’t get much radio airplay. Carrie’s humor and vocals absolutely shine. No wonder if Disney makes a cartoon about a girl growing up in the country doing the voice of Carrie. Sounds like a perfect match!
(4) “Quitter” by Play De (Martin, Shellback, and Kotecha) – I love the unique phrasing of the verses and also the insight into how Carrie handles relationships. The chorus flies and you play it again and again. There is a perfect combination of reflection in the low key verses, and bottles in the chorus.
(3) “More Boy Meet” Carnival Ride (Kennedy and McEwan) – What are you singing, a funny song! I’m surprised it wasn’t this one! If you’re in a bad mood, this is the perfect song for you! The long dog dance is absolutely amazing, and let all the guys in the past know that you put your dog first. This song is to be worshiped and sung.
(2) “We’re Young and Beautiful” from Some Hearts (Rutherford and McEwan) – An idle song from their first album, this song has some spunky vocals and a lot of sound to it. the comparison is especially white. The lyrics are silly, but you don’t have to belt it out. A great addition to the Carrie playlist!
(1) “Songs Like This” from Play of (Dodson, Flowers, and Shapiro) – My personal favorite song, this one grabs you and won’t let you go. If it’s from the country, it could easily be a Kelly Clarkson song. I love when Carrie talks about her husband in songs, but this is even better! Sassy, funny, catchy, with an awesome beat, you won’t regret this download!!!
I hope you find some Bieber songs in addition to the singles for your entertainment. While each single on someone’s album might not be worth buying, it’s worth giving the rest a listen to make sure you don’t miss it! Be sure to check out the best of Kelly Clarkson: Ultra Singles!
