Getting a Couch Through a Small Door

Moving the bed isn’t just back-breaking work. It can be a mental description if small doors are involved. Getting a couch from point A to point B seems like a simple task until you try to move it through narrow hallways and doorways. The challenge becomes greater when the bed is large or overgrown and the threshold is only 31 inches wide, the minimum size for a residential door. In some cases, it is impossible to move the couch through the door, but in many cases it can be done with skill. For the best results when moving a bed, measure the width of the door and the bed before attempting to move the furniture.

Measure the height of the bed from the bottom of the leg to the top of the back. Use a tape measure to determine how wide the side of the bed is too. Compare the width of the bed to the width of the door. If the width of the door is smaller than the width of the bed, it is necessary to move the tilting bed. If the width of the door is larger than the bed, you can easily move it into the room.

Unscrew the door hinge using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Place the screwdriver head on each of the two door screws and wind out the screws. Gently move the door off its hinges. Place the door until the bed moves through the door.

Remove the legs from the thong if they have slipped. Turn the remaining legs until they are removed. Put your legs up until the bed moves.

Ask someone to hold the top of the bed. Holding the opposite end, turn the bed toward the floor at a 45-degree angle. You can turn the bed left or right while moving according to the position in the corridor.

Say the other person holding the bed backwards walks slowly through the door. Lift the couch through the door while the couch is rolling. Stop and back up if the area is still too narrow.

Remove the door frame with a flat head screwdriver and hammer. Place the rotating end of the plane head under the wooden gun, and tap it lightly with a hammer. Tap on the places where the keys are placed. Move the bed through the door, turning it at a 45-degree angle, to the left as you enter the room. Do not remove the door frame, unless the bed will not fit through without removing it.

Place the bed gently on the floor at an angle, then attach the legs. Place the bed, replace the door frame in its place and hang the door.

Replace the door frame by hammering the panels into place. Use fresh keys if the key is loose in the holes. The hinged door hinges over the door. Screw in each screw to secure the door in place.
