Fisher Price Health Care High Chair VS. Chicco Mamma High Chair

This article compares Fisher Price Your Health and Chicco Mamma high chairs side by side. I can make this comparison because I took care of seven-month-old twins and their parents have one of the high chairs.

Both Fisher Price Health Care and Chicco Mamma high chairs accommodate babies and toddlers up to 37 pounds. The price of a fishing high chair is preferable for young and/or small children, however. The tray in the Mamma Chicco high chair is too high and too far away from the baby until the baby is about 15 or 20 pounds.

The Fisherman Price and Chicco Mamma high chairs both have a five-point harness system, but I prefer the way the Fisherman Price attaches the harness – on the sides of the middle strap vs. at the top Both high chairs can recline. The Chicco Mamma feature a handle on the back of the chair and the Fisher Price model offers a handle on the top of the seat, for easy access.

Another Fisher Price brand I find far superior is the “one hand tray adjustment.” Fisher Price’s high chair has two options for fitting the tray; one is a double role, with releases from both sides of the tray. Chicco Mamma does not have this feature at all. The one-handed pen works much better on the Fisher Price chair, and it’s really a one-handed operation. I strive to perform the same maintenance procedures with one hand on the Mamma Chicco chair.

The high seats are identical in size, dimensions and weight. Both seats have adjustable height and separate the seat to make a running seat. Both high chairs also boast auto-folding (front and back legs). The Fisher Price chair is again better in terms of ease of operation. In this chair, I just squeezed the release buttons from one side and legs in one smooth movement. I find the process started in the Chicco Mamma chair.

Both high chairs provide two holes for feeding straps, so for a taller baby, the straps can be adjusted to accommodate an older child. Chicco Mamma has hair on two rear wheels while Fisher Price has hair on all four wheels – a feature I especially appreciate when the twins eat and his 2½-year-old sister hanging from the chair.

Both high chairs also offer additional seats, with Mamma Chicco stating the seat is “easy to wipe clean”. The seat of Fisher Price can be removed and washed in the washing machine.

The tall seats are so similar that if someone were to choose which one to buy without trying, you would never know the price of Fisherman’s a little more “use friendly”. The Chicco Mamma chair is about $40-$50 more expensive than the Fisher Price chair. The lowest advertised price I found for the Fisher Price Health Care High Chair was about $99. The lowest price I found for a Chicco Mamma High Chair was $139.00.

I give Chicco Mamma High Chair 3 Stars and Fisher Price High Chair 5 Stars.
