A quick weekend trip from Dallas in one tank is not difficult to do. In just five to six hours you and your family can soak up the beaches of Galveston, Texas and the summer sun.
Located in the Gulf of Mexico, the island Galveston offers thirty-two miles of beaches, a downtown area, and the island’s southern charm. To get to Galveston from Dallas, you have to take I-45, which goes straight down the state of Texas; around Houston and Galveston Island. A full tank in Dallas should get you all the way to Galveston, but this may vary depending on your car’s mileage per gallon.
There are two roadside rest stops on the route, others appeared to be under construction or remodeling, but there are plenty of outlets with enough facilities and restaurants for what you need. Moody Gardens, Vana Hope Boulevard- Moody Gardens is a must see family destination when in Galveston. Home to a ten story rainforest pyramid and the largest bat in existence in the South, Moody Gardens is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Walk through the Aquarium and play with the kids at Palm-beach or the Discovery Museum.
