The best part of this entire Mosquito Magnet contraption is that it removes the netting and vacuums up all the mosquito carcasses in detail. Really If you’ve had a rough day at work, this is the first thing you need to do to clean yourself up after a cold.
Mosquito Magnet Defender – What kills?
It will kill mosquitoes, sand flies (no-see-ums), and flies. It doesn’t seem to kill deer flies (darn!) and it doesn’t kill butterflies, for goodness sake. You will also become a popular spider in your area. They will provide the minimum distance between the webs to catch the overflow of bugs in the queue until they enter your Mosquito Magnet.

When you become a Mosquito Magnet Defender, you consider yourself to have made a commitment. The whole effectiveness of this little machine at the heart of this is that it must run 24/7. My Experience with Mosquito Magnet Defender
Let me just say, I am a mosquito magnet. I come from a long line of mosquito magnets. I drew a mosquito magnet. Although we know this about ourselves, when we moved to the Georgia coast four years ago, we couldn’t wait to set up our new home with a lovely view of the marsh. The swamp, remember, the swamp is no place for two human mosquito magnets. Within a month, I was researching solutions online for our mosquito problem. Enter the Mosquito Magnet Defender.
I ordered the Mosquito Magnet Defender from Amazon.com and waited for its arrival in the wind of the magnet (attracting more mosquitoes). When the Mosquito Magnet arrived, we opened the package and quickly gathered it together and placed it in the back. Our Mosquito Magnet comes with an instructional DVD, which we have not seen. The hardcopy manual seemed to explain the basics and we were so concerned that we chose a place in the back area to meet the industry and turned to the new Mosquito Magnet Defender.
First mistake: We tried to leave the Mosquito Magnet Defender running for only a few hours of the day. It just won’t work. We were catching mosquitoes in traps but we were still bitten. There was a significant reduction in the number of bites received when we kept the Mosquito Magnet Defender running continuously.
Also, you should be willing to give the Mosquito Magnet Defender time to work. It will take 4-6 weeks before the number of female mosquitoes laying eggs in your area decreases enough for real relief.
Second mistake: We have never experienced the placement of the Mosquito Magnet Defender. We got even better results if we tried to place the Mosquito Magnet Defender in different places in the area. We were quite happy when we tried the first place. You should follow the instructions carefully and experiment with your placement with the Mosquito Magnet Defender for best results.
The third and potentially fatal mistake: We were not concerned about the conservative practice of the Mosquito Magnet Defender. If you are interested in purchasing a Mosquito Magnet, you must install the propane tank properly, clean the tank, and follow all instructions for the Mosquito Magnet Defender. If you don’t, the Mosquito Magnet Defender won’t be nearly as effective and the horrors, quiet working perfectly.
That happened to us. We were completely happy with our Mosquito Magnet protector the first and second year. The third year of Mosquito Magnet seemed to be off by itself and we will be working hard to get it back on track. Thus, it must be interrupted for the third year (which means that it was at least effective at killing mosquitoes and not interrupting the reproductive cycle). This year, when we tried to turn on our Mosquito Magnet Defender, it only stayed on for a moment or two and tried to cut back.
After researching online I found that this is a common problem and complaint with the Mosquito Magnet. When a Mosquito Magnet Defender stops working, it is very difficult to fix, difficult and expensive to send in repairs, and almost impossible to get a free replacement. This is something to think about before buying a Mosquito Magnet Defender.
We are still in the process of trying to get our Mosquito Magnet Defender working again. That’s what I mean about caring for or removing your Mosquito Magnet. We did not save ours. Now we have to decide whether to try to fix our current one or buy a new Mosquito Magnet Defender. We are more back to square with our mosquito population.
Mosquito Magnet Defender Troubleshooting – What We Should Have Done
To have your Mosquito Magnet Defender successfully killing mosquitoes for you, do this: use a properly cleaned propane tank and refill the tank and replace the octenol cartridge for 20 days; to empty the mosquito magnet net with 1/2 full; and use a quick CO2 cartridge every 42 days to keep the lines clear. All calling cartridges can be purchased online or where Mosquito Magnet is sold locally.
Mosquito Magnet Defender – Would I Buy It Again?
Even with the problems we had with the Mosquito Magnet Defender, I would purchase one again. We feel that we are in the number of mosquitoes and no-ums to cut for us. If you live near water, in a swamp, or anywhere there is a very fertile area for mosquitoes, you should consider a Mosquito Magnet Defender.
But we’ll take better care of our Mosquito Magnet Defender this time. If you don’t want to make a living, this machine is not for you.
