6 Unusual Uses for Paper Clips that Will Boggle Your Mind!

Ever since inventor William D. Middlebrook received a patent for paper clips (the ones we use today) in 1899, they have become a household word. There were other ideas for bent metal fasteners, but Middlebrook’s invention was the one that stuck. Besides gluing paper together or making big thin chains, here are 6 unusual uses for scrap paper that will blow your mind!

1. Unbreakable Purse Closers
I used to buy those plastic “Snack Saver” clips to close potato chips bags, cereal bags and other food containers. “Gusa Savers” are cheap- you can buy a paper goat. Unfortunately, I found that “you get what you pay for” because the cheap plastic closers always broke. After I stood up clear and proposed in tag/paper-clip”>criticized, for nothing more problems! Not only that, but paper clips are actually better for closing bags because they hold tighter!

2. Zipper Shake Replacement
Here’s another use for paper clips that will blow your mind. When the zipper pulls on my favorite winter parka broke while I was hiking, I took it to a local dry cleaner to have it repaired. The lady behind the counter said she could easily pull out seven bucks in a few minutes. I thank him for his time and leave. When I got home, I slipped the end of the paper into the zipper pull and it worked fine from there. If you really want to be inspired, you can find a paper clip that matches the color of your shirt, but I think silver goes with everything.

3. Take away the light from the lake
I’ve heard of a type of cherry pit remover, but I’ve never had one. I find the task much easier if you just use a paper clip. You need to grab the clip and “unfold” it so that it looks like a square “S”. Then press down on the middle of the cherry until you feel it hit the hole. Hook the curved paper around the hole, then pull it out and out.

4. Bathroom Door Key
If the door is one of those bathroom hair that has a small hole in the knot and small kids in the house; by then you’ve probably already found yourself begging the shutters to come out. Instead of screaming until you’re hoarse, take a large piece of paper, stretch it out until it’s fairly straight, then insert it into the knot hole. It will release the lock and then you can enter the bathroom.

5. Christmas Tree Ornament Hooks
Every year when we take down the Christmas tree and put everything away, we carefully put the ornament hook back into the little cardboard box. /a>. Come next year, do you think I’ll find that box again? Another unusual use for paper clips is to use them as decorative hooks on your Christmas tree. They are stronger than the jewelry hooks you buy, and I can always find them in my closet!

6. Reach the Electronic Return button
I think the manufacturers of electronic devices and paper hammer are in cahoots. Why? Have you noticed how tiny the holes in electronic devices are where the reset button is located? Commands tell you to hit the ball with the pen. I still have to find that it reaches enough. So another unusual use for paper clips is to use them as buttons on all your electronic devices.
