If styling your hair is the last thing on the priority list of your morning routine, you’ve probably learned how to settle with less-than-perfect locks. Busy moms, working professionals, and students alike know how difficult it can be to carve out enough time to get your hair all in order–especially if it’s got a mind of its own! Still, working those long tresses into a quick and easy style doesn’t have to take all morning. Try these 5-minute hairstyles for long hair on those mornings when you’re crunched for time and you don’t have to sacrifice your style anymore!
Tiny Braids
Style experts at Real Beauty recommend this adorable ‘do. Take a small piece of hair from the front of the hairline at each temple and braid them both into small, fine plaits. Pull the two braids to the back of your head and fasten them together with a tiny elastic band.
One Larger Braid
It might take a little bit of practice, but once you’ve mastered the braid, it’s a piece of cake. When you’re in a pinch, go to this tried-and-true hair ‘do for any occasion. You can also have some fun with it: French braid it, angle your braid to one side, or go for a ‘boho chic’ look with a few stray strands hanging loose.
Sophisticated Loose Ponytail
Not the ponytail of your high school days, this stylish take on the classic ‘do is more “dressed up.” Use a hydrating cream to smooth through the hair from the root to the hair shaft. Pull your hair into a loose ponytail, apply a light mist of hairspray, and use an anti-frizz product on the ends of your hair.
The Glam Ponytail
Another variation on the ponytail, this glammed-up version recommended by Glamour involves a good volumizing product to tease up the roots on the crown of your head. Apply the product to damp, clean hair and tease it gently with a comb. Pull your hair up below the crown, slightly off-center, and leave out a chunk underneath. Tie the ponytail with an elastic, then wine the loose section around the base of it. Pin it into place, hiding the ends beneath, and spray it.
Half And Half
Another classic, the half-up/half-down look is easy when you’re in a rush. Use a little mousse to add extra hold and volume, then make a deep side part. Tease the front section and pull it back loosely over your ear. Do this on the other side, then secure them together. Nice and easy.
Turn to these styles when you’re in a time crunch and you’ll be able to get out the door on time without suffering from bad, untamed hair all day long!
