How to Trim a Holly Bush or Tree

Very carefully!

All joking aside, trimming a holly or a tree is not the easiest task. Unless you’ve done it before (which you don’t need to read this article) you need to be careful not to harm yourself.

Here are a few, like holly or bramble handy to trim.

rubber gloves

scythe hand;

Electric clippers and power cords;

Put all the debris in the bag.

The first thing you want to do is check if it’s even worth it. You may find that you need to remove it completely. Hollies are hardy plants, but even though they are more resistant to termites than holly, they can still die from weak health.

Leaves check in dark or light color. If you find this branch intact, cut it off where it comes from the first branch. This would allow it to heal by itself without costing any member of the body a precious resin.

If it seems that you have termites in the holly, then either cut it down and have a special termite coming out, or as they do it in two. My holly bush is really a dwarf tree, and it is infested with termites when it moves in on me. I was licensed to treat for termites, I was able to pull them in the bud before they did more damage. Of course I then had to deal with other plants and house.

If the leaves look good, but some of the branches are small or brittle, cut them off as well. This is a sign that you should treat yourself alone. Most plants can have their leaves around them and when they fall, nutrients become available in the soil. Not so hollies. Rake the leaves out and place them in the mulch. Deciduous leaves are easily damaged and cause poor soil content or high acidity in the soil. Too much acidity will eventually kill the holly.

You can imagine the shape of a holly bush or tree before you cut it. Start at the top. If you need a ladder to get to the top, climb the ladder and work from the back first. The back doesn’t have to be perfect, and no one will notice if you run away a little. Whatever you do, to step back once in a while, make sure you don’t cut yourself any further.

Make your way around to the front of a bush or tree, and cut at the top until it looks the way you want. This can be a two-hour test if you have a holly tree to break someone and cool off from all the work. You don’t have to wear your work out of it. Make sure you have your gloves on as the leaves fall on you and you know how annoying they can be. If necessary, a hat.

The next thing you can do is to make the branches and branches fall so that you have a clear path to work around the gorse or tree. Keep molding the bush until it is completely decorated. A hand pruner will come in handy for pinching the top shape and cutting below to the ground. This will help warm the soil and make it easy for you to mulch the soil around the base of the plant.

After you’re done, clean up the mess and you’ll be amazed at the work you’ve accomplished.
