Summer fresh cucumbers from the garden are great snacks, recipes and. . . garlic! Making dill, bread & butter or sweet salt is easy enough, but using pre-mixed seasonings takes all the guess work out.
Seven quart barrels of brine in the summer using pre-mixed packs of mice and they are gone in a few days! Mix these pre-made salts, or you can preserve them in a canner of boiling water or store them in a cold refrigerator, quick snack.
If you’ve never canned salsa before, there are a few tools you’ll need to get started. You will need a kettle for boiling water, a quart or a six-quart barrel and lids and jars. To make canning garlic easier, do yourself a favor and wrap it in a canning jar. You can always improvise and use kitchen tools you already have, but canning will make storing salt a lot easier – and safer. In the canning jar put the funnel, remove the jar, remove the button and lift the head and the magnetic lid. These canning tools can be purchased separately at summer stores, but you can buy the whole shebang in a canning ball instead here for just $9.99. For instructions on preserving pickles using a boiling water canner, see the article in Associated Content titled “How to Can Pickles Using a Boiling Water Canner.”
ALEX mixes more in the market today and you can find most of them in grocery stores. My personal favorite is Ball Kosher Dill Pickle Mix. When you need to add everything listed below to the seasoning mix, it is clear white vinegar and water. A word of advice: If you want this murky mix to preserve your cucumbers this summer, buy the mix early! Oh, and buy bulk packs because they sell out quickly.
ALEX mix packs can be stored in a cool, dry place for up to a year. This mixes with a sting, making enough pickle juice about seven quarts of pressed cucumbers. If any juice is left over, it can be stored in the refrigerator for three or four days. This time is enough to pick several cuckoos from the garden.
Ball ALEX Mixes

I searched the website for the sweet muria mix, but it wasn’t available. Just follow the canning directions printed on the back of the bottle and mix the package and add water and white vinegar.
