Hula circles are not difficult to make once you have the right materials. You need Poly Tubing which is usually used for insulation and can be found at hardware or home improvement stores. I think there is more than one hula hoop as the tubing is usually sold in 100-foot circles that make about 8 hula circles.
The perfect hula hoop is usually made from 160 psi, 3/4″ diameter, but can also be made from 100 psi. 1″ diam. The kids use a 100 psi, 3/4″ tube. The 100 psi, 3/4″ is the one though if you want a light hoop. Other supplies you may need are scaling the PVC pipe, inserting the connectors (1″ tubing, or 3/4″, according to which you will make the colored electric hoop machine, and blow dryer.
Cut the length of Tubing for the size making the hoop. The circles are usually about 12″ in circumference but can be slightly larger or smaller. Use a PVC rake or a sharp hacksaw to make a cut in the tubing. The connections where the tubing is found should be 1″ in diameter. 1″ diameter tubing or 3/4″ for the 3/4″ tubing. The connector will hold the two ends of the tubing together in the hoop.
Before joining, we insert a place of sand, beans, dry peas or other noises into the hoop. This step is optional if you don’t want to rattle the hoop. Some things, like sand, can add weight to the hoop so you can’t use dried beans or rice instead . .
To make it easier to connect the connecting pipe with a blow drier to heat the end. The tubing becomes softer with the heat and there will be less trouble when it comes to the joint. If you don’t have a dryer, you can also use hot water to soak the ends of the tubing. Wear gloves to hold the tubing hot while applying the joint.
After the ends are heated, take the joint and put the end into one tube then the other. You will push the connecting terminals on the connector until you can no longer see the connector. When the connector is correctly positioned and inserted, the tubing is completely covered. If you’re trying to do a plumbing job and join everything at once, stop redoing the pipe.
Purchase electrical tape in a color or design that will look nice on the hoop. Tapes now come in almost every color of the rainbow, and are some great selections for kids. Start where the pipes are connected and begin winding around the hoop of the machine, at an angle, making sure to keep the same distance between the tapes each time you wrap.
A hula hoop will make any girl happy and women love to exercise them. Hula hoops have been popular since the day they were invented and will more than likely continue to be. Consider making a few and giving them gifts throughout the year or make lots and put up a flea market booth.
