What is acrotomophilia?
Sexual attraction to those who have an amputation is defined. It is considered from the back, but it can be so deeply rooted that a person cannot fulfill their sexual urges or desires with someone who is not an amputee.
After being a BKA (below knee amputee), I was literally thrown into the world of acrotomophilia without warning. Most of the stars and jaws dropping glances from passers-by can be dismissed as curiosity but there are some that look for other reasons. People came up to me and struck up a conversation and in the first 60 seconds I could feel the real things going on. They were either interested in “me” or the remaining member (politely correct term for my club).
Some people are attracted by the amputations, and others go to the beach and beat around the bush. I remember being asked, in public places, if I could remove my prosthesis so they could see my scar. how much my pipe is cut off. It seems to most people, I am used to it; I just roll my eyes and walk away. Apotemnophilia is often practiced in less sterile fields and can have devastating and deadly results. It is estimated that over 200 people have died from amputations; it is not something that is embraced by ordinary doctors, and as an amputee doesn’t understand why someone would want to amputate a perfectly healthy limb.
Acrotomophilia is a recognized medical and mental condition; The only treatment given is therapy and mild dosages of drugs to control the urges. As a female amputee I see one side of the fence but have had an opportunity with many people who consider themselves loving amputees. All three say they are more attracted to women who are BKA rather than above-the-knee amputees, actively seek out BKA women for sexual and non-sexual encounters, and engage in “trunk worship.” So the matter is like this. This is the curve of the amputated fetus that embodies exactly what the term implies.
Not knowing much about acrotomophilia or its variations I asked about it on related boards and finally private I went to meet people who wanted news. Apparently they are moving the tables and using it as a dating service instead of its intention as a place for new amputees to get information. Needless to say, it was an eye-opening experience for me, and I am no stranger to emotions and perversions of a sexual nature.
I am now placed in a position where it is difficult to know how I will be judged. If someone starts a conversation, is it about genuine concern or my residual member? You can certainly feel things but experienced amputee lovers will know exactly how to change the situation and pretend their true intentions. Just because I’m a BKA doesn’t mean I’m behind; I did not wish to have my amputation.
