Do you hate it when the dog goes ballistic when a stranger comes to the door? I hate going somewhere because the dog was aggressive. I never knew if I was going to end up jumping or biting. I love dogs, and I didn’t want to make my dog uncomfortable when they came to my house. But if you have a dog, if it happens to be happy to see someone new and you want to greet that person, or if it feels protective and barks at you, like you are an intruder. I am an avid viewer of the show The Dog Whisperer, and I have learned a lot from watching the show. I made some crafts at home with my dog.
My Chihuahua, Ivan, is a naturally bouncy and energetic dog. He ran home for a long time, and everyone in it. He was the leader of the wicked. He wanted to be wanted, he jumped on me, he demanded that I help him. He was not at all dirty or threatening to me; however, he did not allow me to do what I needed to do. When I was trying to write an article, or to do something else on the computer, he demanded to take it off and sit on my lap while I was writing. It would not be so bad if he did all this; however, once in the pocket, the nose beats with my hands, so that I do not even type on the keyboard.
If you have a dog that exhibits annoying behavior like what I said above, the best thing you can do. make sure to break the dog, so that it does not demand attention from you, when you are busy, return your place to the pack leader. When little Ivan tapped his foot, signaling to me that he wanted to go into my lap, I ignored him. I will not even look at the road. When he shook me a little harder and gave me a little vocal yap, I continued typing. When he didn’t get the message, and they were more insistent that I get hold of him, I made a noise like “Annnnnt” and put him down. I saw him in the corner of my eye just sitting there. His feelings are not hurt at all. He then crouched down at my feet, while I continued to labor more without ceasing from him.
My kitten has the heart of a lion, but he is really scared of the big cat. When someone did not know, he came to the door and pretended to eat them. He would not approach them, but barked and barked. If you have ever heard the shrill voice of a Chihuahua, you will know that it can be ear piercing. I wanted to break him. Again I wanted to know that I am the most important. I got some help from a friend and asked her to visit and knock on my door. Ivan put on a leash so I could hold him more easily. When his car drove off, Ivan heard it and started to get mad. I gave him my vocal “Annnnnt!” and pulling the leash. That alone redirected him to stop barking. He’s still a little agitated and makes some rattling noises, but he’s not barking. I gave him a voice “Shhhhh!” with a light pull on the leash and stopped.
My friend, Lisa, came to my door and knocked. Again Ivan went wild. I gave him another vocal “Annnnnt!” and you are drawn into a couple. He sat down, but was still worried enough to hit me a bit in the throat with the pebbles. I gave him a “Shhhh” voice, but not so strongly and he kept quiet. I opened the door and allowed Lisa to enter my house. Ivan starts barking again as if to say “Intruder!” but I accepted and gave him a vocal “Pssssst” and pulled him to the collar and sat down.
On this day, Ivan, Lisa and I went through this exercise with Lisa knocking on the door until Ivan could no longer bear the agitation. Now when I need Ivan to stop what he’s doing, I don’t have a leash to pull him. I can just give him a voice to stop his behavior and redirect automatically. I believe that with patience, love, and perseverance you can keep your dog in its place in the pack. Remember, no matter how much you think about your family dog, you are the boss of the bad guys.
