While on vacation in Gulf Shores, we received a referral from friends who were going to dine at Lulu’s. Our friend and her family enjoyed dining at Lulu’s.
We decided to try Lulu’s for lunch one day on vacation. When we arrived, it was a very hot day, we are not surprised that we waiting for a table; because Lulu’s is a very famous place. While we waited Lulu’s has a sprinkler system installed outside to cool you down during your stay.
The gift shop is conveniently located near the waiting area, so you can browse while you wait for your table. We all looked at the merchandise and opted to buy things when we were ready to leave so we wouldn’t have to carry them around the restaurant.
It was a very long wait. We were greeted by a very young footballer who happened to attend school in our country after talking with her. To finish the menu, he took the drink orders.
She quickly returned to our drinks. We order fried green tomatoes as an appetizer to start our meal. With so many options, it was really hard to decide what to order.
Our tasting order arrived very shortly and was piping hot from the kitchen. Honestly, these were the best fried green tomatoes I’ve ever eaten (and I’m from Alabama)! My son, who never wanted to taste fried green beans, took a bite and was hooked.
Then our entrees arrived again hot from the kitchen. As I said, there were too many choices of appetizers that looked delicious, so that’s what my L.A. appetizer was. (lower Alabama) I chose Caviar, which is actually delicious. However, this order was given as my first order. My husband ordered the famous “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and my son ordered the fried shrimp for the kids. We were all very pleased with our readings.
We also see pelicans and mergansers that occupy the nearby channel. I took some pictures of the beautiful birds flying across the canal. While we were enjoying our dinner, we watched the boats pull up to the dock.
After leaving Lulu’s, we then went back to the gift shop to retrieve the items we wanted to purchase. The gift shop is filled with sassy tee shirts, mugs, photo frames and much more.
Outside the gift shop is a beach volleyball net, bar and Cream shop. I took a few moments to take photos with my family in this very bright and colorful environment.
Our overall experience at Lulu was wonderful. The service, atmosphere, location, food more than exceeded our expectations. We will definitely recommend Lulu to all our friends and family.
