I’ve always had a problem with chapped lips especially in the wintertime, and living in North Carolina where the weather is so erratic – it only makes it worse. I tried Mary Kay Satin Lips because nothing else I’ve tried in a long time has worked. I thought maybe if I spent a little money, I would get a quality product. I’ve always had a dog about Chapstick because I really believe the ingredients in it and all the other lip balms For that matter, that make sure you have it to use for some relief. When I was told that Mary Kay didn’t have lip balm in it, I thought maybe finally, I had found the right product. No such luck!
Mary Kay Satin Lips comes in a two-inch long, 3-inch tube with a screw off cap. It is quite easy to use. I noticed in another review that the censor mentioned didn’t come until the fresh tube was pressed. I wouldn’t have bought it if it was potted, and it’s quite likely that others have had the same issue, so move the goods to the Mary Kay side. to change the method of application.
The color of the lip balm is an opaque color and the thickness is like petroleum jelly, not so thick. It doesn’t have a bad taste or smell, or at least not worse than I’ve experienced with other lip balms or petroleum. It feels important, though. As soon as I apply it, I feel like I have to wear something on my lips, which of course I do, but I don’t want to feel otherwise.
I threw away the box and the tube does not list the ingredients, but the Mary Kay rep stated that there is no alcohol in this product. However, I still reapply after an hour, because within that time my lips are back to being dry and flaky. No, when I use Chapstick, I do the same thing, but I only pay $1-2 for a tube of Chapstick, and this costs me $10. I don’t know who has used this where it lasted six hours, but it sure didn’t last long on me.
In fairness to the product, it is supposed to be used as part of the treatment regimen, which also includes the Mary Kay Satin Lips Lip Mask. My Mary Kay rep tried this on me last week, and I really didn’t like the way it felt. The face was sandy, with a stony texture that I believe was supposed to rub off dry skin. This step should be done before using the lip balm. I didn’t buy this as a set, not only did I not like how it felt on my lips, but I didn’t want to spend 18 on it. Maybe I should have, and the lip balm would have done better, but I don’t know what. never out of criticism either.
I cannot recommend this product. It’s not worse than other lip balms I’ve used before, but if I’m spending $10 on such a small job, then it better be fabulous, and it’d better last me a year. With the amount of Mary Kay Satin Lips I use every day to keep my lips moisturized, I will continue to use this tube for two weeks. The back of the tube says “use liberally as needed”. If it had worked out the way it was supposed to, and in the way the company had claimed, there would be no reason to print a statement on the tube.
Don’t waste your money on this brochure. Sure, Chapstick might not work better, but at least you won’t have to break the bank. And, if anyone “ever” finds a lip balm that actually works, please email me and let me know!
