What to Wear to an Informal Job Interview

Those of us who are baby boomers are familiar with the combination of suit and jacket for men, and suits and high heels for women. Like everything else, times have changed! It is now commonly labeled “informal” in conversation. A few years ago, that description of the interview would have left me with a headache! After years of working in a corporate retail office and keeping to dress codes certain days of the week I found that ‘informal’ and ‘business ‘casual’ are synonymous.

My mission with this paper is to describe as much as I could the basic and non-informative job interview skills!

Men, – shake out your khakis, button-down shirts, color-coordinated shoes and belts. Please throw away that huge rodeo belt buckle! Tan shade of brown pants or colored cordovan choose a shoe in leather that can be polished or polished. finish, but they are clean! (Oh, no! not tennis shoes!) Weather permitting, a coat could be worn. If you prefer darker colors, make the belt and shoes the same, brown or brown or black leather (although not winged tips) maybe bags or dark shoes are best.

Women, – take nice tops with solid suits; khaki pants with buttons on shirts or casual blouses. Medium heeled shoe (with a panting suit), or casual leather with khakis. You should never, ever wear a stiletto heel to an informal job interview. Please try to match the belt and shoe color for a coordinated, confident look. Women should refrain from colorful print clothes to the interview, and should also wear shiny or too shiny nails. restore Save the red for the evening! The jewelry should be limited to one ring per hand, and leave the ringing bracelets at home – distracting noise! A skirt can be worn with an appropriate length to consider, – generally if the length of the skirt is somewhere between the top of the knee and the bottom of the knee, it is right for an informal conversation.

Men and women should be very aware of their spouse. Hair should be styled neatly, not shaggy. Clothes should be well pressed and clean and should not smell like cigarette smoke. One important thing – make sure your nails are clean and neatly trimmed. Hopefully you’re not a nail biter and have your nails trimmed to the proper length, both men and women, to allow easy access to Computer keyboards and touch tone phones. Nails and hands attract a lot of attention and should be taken care of and kept clean. A manicure can sometimes be expensive or expensive to keep your hands in good condition. Another very important issue when choosing your outfit is comfort. Nothing makes a day more miserable or makes a person more self-conscious than wearing tight clothes or shorter.

Hopefully the above tips will help those who are looking for a job and take some of the anxiety out of the whole process! I haven’t covered the details, but I feel that the above will give the men and women a foundation in the beginning.
