NYX Glitter Cream Pallet Eye Shadow, Paradise: Review

Last week when stopping into my local Rite Aide, I came across a shelf lined with a new product that immediately caught my eye, and immediately I knew I had to have it.

Unfortunately when I picked the compact of makeup up by NYX, I had no clue what it was. Sadly the label did not describe what the hell it was. What I was looking at though was a long plastic compact with 5 pallets filled with glittery color. Each color was bold, contained tons of glitter, and I wanted it no matter what it was.

The only description I got was that it was a cream pallet, I had no clue what it was other than that. Either way though, it was pretty, and I wanted it.

My boyfriend said he thought it was eye shadow, I however thought that it was some sort of high glittery lip gloss.

I choose the color combination Paradise, and Utopia (which I will review later on).

Anyways for now I will focus on Paradise.

Paradise contained 5 colors, one was a very neon colored pink, the glitter however gave off a very pale purple color. Combined it was really pretty.
Next to the pink colored pallet, sat black. This was my favorite because I knew that if this stuff was eyeliner, I would apply it directly on top of my black eyeliner for a very cool sparkly look. The glitter shimmered a nice deep purple, blue and dark green.

Next to the black pallet was plain white. The glitter though shimmered a nice holographic color which more or less resembled a rainbow type of shimmer…only more pastel like.

After that came gold, which was nothing more than gold all together. There was no extra double toned shimmer. The gel makeup was gold, as was the glitter. I especially liked it though because I knew it would look good on top of brown eyeshadow.

Last but not least came silver which is probably my second favorite color next to black. This particular glitter shimmers a deep rainbow holographic color which shines better than the other colors that come in the set. I figured this would look gnarly on top of black eyeliner.

What Was It?

At home I opened up the plastic compact to find hidden inside 3 eyeshadow sponges, and a small precision eyeshadow brush. This stuff was eyeshadow. My boyfriend was right. I was hoping it was eyeshadow! By the looks of it though, my first impression was lip gloss.

Anyhow the first thing that I thought was that this gorgeous glitter was only on the surface. Many eye shadows with gobs of gorgeous glitter only surface the eyeshadow with glitter, and it never really shows on the eye lid.

NYX Glitter Cream Pallet Paradise Eye Shadow though had glitter all throughout. From top of the pallet to the bottom of it.

My Use:

I planned on first lining my eye with black eyeliner, and then using the black colored glitter cream to carefully coat the eyeliner with the glitter.

Unfortunately things didn’t quite work out the way I had planned.

I dipped the small brush into the black colored pallet and collected some of the cream glitter onto the brush. The first thing I noticed was how it didn’t want to stick. It seemed that the glitter outnumbered the actual cream, which made it hard to stick.

I dug into the pallet hoping to collect some cream, so it would at least stick better. Once I had what I considered a fair amount of the product on the brush, I slowly worked it on top of my eyeliner. Everything seemed to be working well, but I hated how hard and sharp the bristles were on the brush. In the middle of my application I had to switch over to a better brush so I could apply it, without it hurting my eye lid.

Overall the experience sucked because as soon as the cream began to dry, the glitter began to fall from my eye lids. I ended up with glitter all around my eyes which made me look like I was about to go out to a Halloween disco party.

All in all the glitter is really pretty, however it does not stay where you apply it. In the end you end up with glitter all over your face, and it is hard to get off because the glitter is so micro fine.

I will say that NYX Glitter Cream Pallet Paradise Eye Shadow is best used to apply glitter to your skin, not your eyes. In my opinion it would work best if you were to apply a little to your chest, or arms. NYX Glitter Cream Pallet Paradise Eye Shadow just does not work well on your eyes, or face…unless of course, it is Halloween.

I kept both compacts that I bought simply because I know I could use it in the summer time to line my arms and chest with for days spent at the beach, which is cool in my book.

For those though looking for bold glittery eyelids, I would avoid NYX Glitter Cream Pallet Paradise Eye Shadow all together. It does not work well on the eyes. You end up with glitter on your face, in your actual eyeball, and it’s not a comfortable feeling at all.

For those who want nice glittery shimmer for their body, then yes, I would recommend NYX Glitter Cream Pallet Paradise Eye Shadow. You can pick up a compact for just under $4.00 at drug stores in the makeup section.
